Just checking, but you are aware that during an election (or war/civil war) both side's influence is fixed for the duration, 2+7 days?
The influence of both sides during war/election is locked pending, during and when on cooldown period and not just to each other, as any other factions in the system not in a conflict cannot take any influence from both parties that have the election/war for the duration.
What this means is you need to be aware what is going on with other factions in the system before deciding whether you will try to push your factions influence there. Because your faction can only gain influence if there is influence to take from others.
My faction had situation a few weeks ago where 4 of the other 5 factions in system had election/war pending or active, which meant that effectively we could only take influence from that 1 remaining faction that wasnt locked in a conflict, which was very ineffiecient, especially as they only had about 2% inf we could possibly take anyway as you can only take nominal amounts of inf from those that are already low, which meant that our actions pretty much counted for nothing.
Only thing we could do in that situation is walk away and go do something else for a week then picked it up again once those other factions wars/elections had finished.
