Stay away from Hutton Dock in Alpha Centuri - You have been warned.

I just decided to finally visit Sol last night. I have been hanging out in a system called 'Lugh' - The great pagan Irish sun God and hero or our mythology. It was a place I had to go and check out passing 'Medb', 'Tara', 'Fionn' and a few other systems that also raised an eyebrow while I went. I am not sure if these are actual known space or invented systems but either way the names were not lost on me! Anyway, after fitting out my Eagle to a very high standard and with a jump range of almost 17ly I decided it was time to head and check out Sol - even see if I could spot little old Éire while I was there. What a dump! Really rubbish economy.

So then I took a job heading to Hutton Dock in Alpha Centuri - The closest solar system to our own in known space. What a mistake that was! The mission is worth about 2,500cr and when I jumped out of warp space I fund that Hutton Dock is .22 light years from me! I am sitting here typing this while my ship flies. So far it has been over half an hour wait and I still have .11 light years to go and another half hour on the clock!

Stay away from missions going to Hutton Dock. Unless you like having a nice snooze on the way! I am going to fulfil this mission and then next stop 'Lave' and the bank of 'Zayonce'!

Top speed?

Should have painted the Eagle red. Would cut travel time in half...

Z...

Well the top speed was at 1900c at one point but has droped back down to 1695c now. Something must be influencing it bu I am not sure what body has gravity all the way out here. 20 mins to go! I bet you it is a right kip when I get there! ;)

I did the same trip, my hauler got to something like 1850c. Took nearly an hour I think. Can't imagine how many credits would have to be paid to get me to do it again.

The station is probably named after Len Hutton in honour of his grinding out a 13-hour innings at the Oval in 1938 :p

Yep, that's Alpha Centauri for ya.

I remember, back in the day, the only way I ever successfully completed missions was with a Viper Mk. II fitted with mil. 3 drive.

Damn that ship was fast, made the Kessel Run in less than 10 parsecs!

Achenar should be just as bad, unless they "fixed" things.

I learned this back in fe2. One failed mission was a good lesson. Basically keep away from binary systems where the biggest start does not have any ports.

Went there TWICE. Should have paid attention to the station name when I accepted a mission there for the second time. Didn't wanna abandon for fear of negative rep : -/

Sorry for OT ...but:parsec is unit of length not time!

Sorry for OT but you need to brush up on your star wars lore :)

Solo was referring to doing it in the shortest route he did through some nasty territory(usual distance for the "safe" kessel run is 18 Parsecs)

p.s. He said 12 not 10 :)

It's a Star Wars reference (and of course it's wrong, can't expect accuracy, blah blah).

Oh dear... really? There is someone on the internet who doesn't get that reference?

My boss and partner both watched Episode IV in the 21st century and haven't tried any of the others. They wouldn't get the reference either. :D

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
