Stealth fighter against NPC

Hi all.
I did some search en asked some friends in-game but the results are inconclusive. So I hope someone can finally clarify this.
Is it still true that using stealth setup is effective against CMDRs but not NPCs. Or at least that there is a difference between your opponent's ability to get a lock on you depending on whether they are a CMDR or a NPC?
Thanks in advance!

Stealth builds only work against Players. Npc can lock on stealth ship with gimbals and turrets and npcs can "see" ," spot" or track stealth builds as easily as normal builds. NPC just ignore stealth, silent running and low heat signal.

NPC are cheaters then!

Ban them! :D

Seriously, i read something about fixing the AI for 2.1, i hope they fix this too, it makes no sense.

There is a bug with turrets: if set to "fire at will", they can still track and fire at silent runners.
I tested that in PvP and confirmed.
Since NPCs use turrets with "fire at will", that may explain a lot of things...

Also in case you don't know, your target can see you as soon as you open fire at it...

And how do you think will the crime and punishment "improvement" work out,
when the AI is set to player level regarding seeing stealth builds or not...?

NPC's can see you in stealth mode without issues.
Chaff works for approximately 1.5 seconds against them before their gimbles/turrets re-acquire you.
They can also fire 6 rail-guns from an Asp continuously and not take any heat damage in the process, and do so without running out of ammo.
TL/DR: The AI is broken, and cheats like a swine.

Thanks for all the replies. It's quite clear stealth setup is not anything one should have to wonder around the space.

definitely NPC will lock you while you are in range. The thing is silent running does not totally hide you, everybody can still spot you and your engine trail. The big difference is that NPCs will always KNOW where you are, but they still have to get close to you first before they lock you.

I've done some tests as well, and npc locking is heavily based on heat signature and proximity, to the point that while engaging something in a wing silent runners barely get ay hit and all enemy fire is focused on the wing mates. in 1v1 locking is the same with or without silent. And finally turreted weapons firing at will docus their attention on the heat sinks losing the focus on the ship.

About AI being more inaccurate against a silent runner.. that is just pure speculation, just think that AI mistakes are on purpose.
