Steam Account Change ?

Gooday

I dont know where to start and although i think its not possible i guess the best is to try. I have a racing game on my steam account ( Assetto Corsa Competitione) which since Covid19 my son has started playing on a daily basis. I also play Elite Dangerous and have 3 steam version of the game. My problem is that my Big Elite Game in which i have invested thousand of hours of gametime is on the same PC as the Racing game my son plays ....so now there is always a waiting list when someone wants to play. Is it not in anyway possibble to have Frontier Support move my Elite Game to another steam account in its entirety .......and remove it completely from the current account which my son now uses for racing ........

you could just launch ED without steam running, if somebody else is using that copy of steam then you should still be able to launch ED

if you have 2 or more machines you should be able to just copy ED to another PC and launch it without reinstalling, on first launch you may need to verify files which iirc should install any pre-requisite software. on patch days the game should patch when its launched

Doesnt work for me -keep trying to login to steam ......then if i cancel steam login it takes me to the frontier login and sends a verification code then says i must buy the game

I may be wrong, but I take it you have a second computer (that you wish the ED game to go on - therefore you and your son can play your respective games at the same time)?

If so, why not create your son a Steam account on whichever system you wish him to play and share the racing game with your son?

A link is here, hope it helps: Steam Family Sharing (steampowered.com)

If not, if the racing game is not too expensive, maybe just get the game for your son's account when created?

This won't help, because libraries can only be family-shared as a whole. That means while someone plays Game A from it, no-one can play Game B from it.

Damn, I was hoping that was the solution (didn't get the 'whole' library bit and believed you could share an individual game). Sorry.

Is there a chance of purchasing the game for him on a new account (is it cheap enough - I know with COVID, money isn't great for some atm)? :(

As usual quoting Factabulous, the only other thing I can suggest is support - hopefully there will be empathy and they will allow you to transfer some of the games from your Library to a new account (as I would suppose they would still want to limit a game to one account).

I wish you luck <O

While off-topic, this has also severe consequences:
Be aware that if you share your library with a stranger and if they cheat in a VAC protected game using your library, you, as the library owner, will get VAC banned as well.

Only works if one bought ED from steam prior to April of 2019. After Aprils of 2019 the playing of ED purchased from either Steam or Frontier, require there own separate launchers.

Yep i thought about buying the game again but it
cost about $60 which is a bit steep ....maybe wait for the specials
and also having said that they get rank and points for gametime .....you ever tried telling a 13 year old to start his game from scratch .....................

If you still consider buying and want a separate version:
Buy these on a new Frontier account and you can download the standalone launcher (which you'll use with the new account) from your account management page.

Ouch, fair enough. Hope support can provide a solution for you <O
