Steam client update for 2.3?

Watching the live stream and people are chatting about having downloaded a new client. Assuming they have the game directly through Frontier.

I have the game through Steam. Anyone have any idea when Steam users will see the new client?

I have the FD client and it hasn't prompted me to install a new one. However, that may change once the new patch comes online.

Yeh i dont think its a new client. We are not installing a new Engine. This is a content patch, Even when Horizons went live they didnt require a client reinstall.

Thanks for the reminder. +1 rep. I don't usually have Steam running since I use the FD launcher. But the game itself is through Steam and updates through it. I remotely logged onto my computer at home and started Steam. ED is now updating and should be ready for me when I get home. Thanks for saving me untold time. :)

And now the update is live with the usual P2P bandwidth limitations, just in case of torrents. Actually i hate to admit, but it makes sense because of the high number of connections in the swarm placing an increased strain to your cable, and the data centers / relays of your provider compared to the actual download speed. Ugh! I haaate to wait.

Edit; Sorry... I probably mentioned this earlier but since to talk about some sort of things (piracy related stuff) in this forum under normal situations is a big no no? I only had the chance to do it right now.

Both my Steam client and the FD client are upgrading at the same time. Can I just cancel one of them? I almost never play using the Steam launcher.

Hey, 2.3 is live. Let's download it! 10 GB... wait, what, I don't have enough disk space?!

Yeah, I cleared up some space and am looking at 7 hours. Irritatingly, the beta is still taking up space but Windows won't let me delete it, so it was bye-bye Just Cause 3. (Not so bad: I just moved it to my D drive. But no crappy mechanical drive for games I'm actually playing regularly.)

Still. 7 hours. : /

Well... Right now the Download speed is fluctuating to me between 1 MB/s up to 5 MB/s So there is some improvement, but the providers still trying to cut it down to the usual 1/10th. and im right now a little more than halfway in the full process, which means the download is ending soon, and installation begins. At least the connection going to be mutch more stable, and harder to kill. Not a small feat. :) The rest of it? Is about the copyright rathernotsayingwhats, and providers but i think this still can be improved, by knowing whats the real problem. :) Nice work!

I updated via the client first, then it crashed when I tried to run it.....

Turns out I have to update it through Steam instead........ over 4 hours to go!!! Arrrrrrgggggg!!!!!!!
