Steam ED launcher huge zoom level (Win7)

Greetings CMDRs

Yesterday, all of a sudden, my Steam ED launcher has started to show text and images hugely magnified (please see image attached).
I am pretty sure not having changed anything neither in my operating system settings (Windows 7 Ultimate) nor in Steam.

First, obvious thing, as I know Steam ED launcher is a browser window, I tried to change its magnification with CTRL+mouse wheel but the zoom level did not changed.
I looked for solutions before posting and tried the fix for high DPI display but nothing happened.

ED is working perfectly even though Steam ED launcher has this weird aspect... I am just annoyed to see that mess when starting.

Maybe someone can point me to the right solution?

Thanks in advance

I'm playing on Win7 as well. The same issue started for me yesterday. I've tried numerous things to fix it, but no luck so far. At least I know it's not an issue with my computer.

Hello CMDR, thanks for confirming the issue. I had spent the past 3 hours in trying to fix it without success (changed several DPI scaling options). It is a mystery how this mess came out all of a sudden.

I've tried the following:
  1. Restart the launcher
  2. Restart the entire computer
  3. Modified all settings in the Properties->Compatibility tab
  4. Disabled SLI
  5. Repaired .Net
  6. Reinstall the launcher
I tried to submit a ticket. After filling in all the forms and attaching an image, the "next" button did nothing but change color. The only good thing I've discovered so far is that middle-clicking allows for scrolling the launcher sideways. At least I can access the entire menu now.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm using the non-Steam launcher.

Ok, I admit I have no idea about Win 7 except suggesting you upgrade to Win 10, but a similar issue in Win 10 is connected to the high dpi scaling issues. See here:

Hello Ashnak, thank you for the link to a fix for Win10;
I looked for trying the fix explained that post but in Win7 there are not the same options available to solve high dpi scaling issues and the options in Win7 does not seem to work.
I take the suggestion to upgrade to Win10 but I am hesitant as this moment because my PC works indeed well for my needs and this looks just an annoyance with no impact on the gameplay.

Hello SD, you are the man dog!!!
Thank you very much for pointing out the relation between old Explorer settings and ED Steam Launcher!
I checked the Explorer version in my system and was iE8 - Doh!
A quick search showed the latest version of iE compatible with Win7 is 11
I just installed iE11 and the issue is gone! The Launcher windows is now displayed correctly!
Probably something has been changed in the webpage the Launcher shows (characters look bigger that they were few days ago) and in turn this messed up the visualization based on old iE8...
Anyhow, problem solved!
Thank you all CMDRs for taking the time to give me suggestions

Great find!

I should have known it was something like this. Frontier can't be bothered to include direct access to controllers, limiting each one to 32 buttons via Windows instead. It only makes sense that their launcher relies on IE to work as well.

Sometimes I really hate to love this game.......
