I recently got Horizons on my steam account (given it was on sale) yet every time I have tried to launch ED using Horizons, the launcher tells me the game needs an update, however there is no update on steam. The notice tells me to set update priority to high, which I have done. This changed nothing. The only option available is to close the launcher, even though the only way I can see to fix this is the big "install" button in the launcher, which the notice doesn't allow me to select (the only option is to exit the launcher).

This might be related to the "log out machine then log in via Steam Login" issue. This faq from Frontier Support details it:

How did you manage to buy Horizons on Steam? When I try it says "Your transaction failed because you are trying to buy 'Elite Dangerous: Horizons' which requires ownership of 'Elite Dangerous'. Please correct the error and try again. "
horizons is a dlc expansion pack it wont work on its own...………….. ownership of the main game entitled elite dangerous is required methinks
I've owned Elite Dangerous since 2016. I recently got Horizons as a gift, because of the 75% off sale on Steam. It stalled during activation but when I click on Elite Dangerous in my library, it shows that i own the Horizons DLC and that it is installed. If I go into the game by choosing Elite Dangerous off the launcher is shows on the ship screen that I don't have Horizons, as the engineer button shows, "need Horizons". If I choose Horizons off the startup, it gives the launcher "Update" message and requires you to make changes to the background update priority and then restart the Steam client. I've followed the directions, I've restarted the client, no effect. I've restarted the computer, no effect. I've uninstalled the game, deleted the installation folders and reinstalled from Steam, no effect. I've deleted the launcher and run the Elite Dangerous client install from Frontier, no effect. I put in a trouble ticket but they have 3 days to respond. Any ideas? Thank you.

supprised the log of machine function in your launcher options tab did not work in that case

maingame is my own since 2016. Bought via steam.
horizons season pass bought via steam last week.
when i start horizons via steam, the launcher appears and tells me, that the game has do update.
I updated like a boss, nothings changes. I deinstalled the game an reinstalled with the same result.
I can play the maingame, but i cannot play horisons.
can somebody help?
