Steam second purchase - current status? (April 2020)

I've just seen another thread indicating that Steam currently have ED & horizons on offer (until 3 April 2020).
I bought my current and only licence at the very beginning of this year, on Steam...

What is the current state of play regarding the practicalities of using a second purchases?. It looks like it would be too much of a hassle, (multiple accouts/logons?) but I could do with confirmation....

Yes you need a second account - both Frontier account and Steam account. No problems otherwise, just log-in to Steam with the account you want to play and select the game. (You can share some games in Steam library between accounts but to play E D you need to use the Steam Log-In for the correct account.)

BTW - Elite Dangerous settings are shared but I don't know if the game installation is shared or if it needs a seperate installation in your Steam Library.
