Steam Store Game Extras Purchases

Shouldn't be any reason to... especially since that would add additional fees from Valve. I'd rather the maximum amount gets to FD.

From what I read once you've tied your account to steam they get a cut of the FD store sales for that account too. It's why I'm not going to add Elite to steam as much as I'd like to.

I just want a place to purchase them in USD$ or OTHER currency, the conversion rate to EURO+fees makes the vibrant packs far more expensive than if they were purchased by a player in Europe. I'd be OK with this if it were a PHYSICAL product, but it can go upwards to 10-15$+ for a skin depending on current conversion rates/fees if your in the united states.

No currency conversion in ED store when you use the change currency option CC companies charge for currency exchange. To date I have not seen currency exchange charge on my CC.

So will the paint jobs in the game extras portion of the store ever be available to purchase through steam?

Do you mean through the Steam portal? Maybe at some point, but as CMDR Thrudd pointed out accounts linked to Steam will give Valve/Steam a cut even if its is on Frontier's online store even is it is Merch outside of the game.

No, they do generally tack on an extra $2-$3 for a Foreign Transaction on my cards. It's really not a big deal if you get a whole bunch of paint at once.

What you mean the steam wallet? Those are not points that is real money.

No i know, i was just saying it like that for people who might not be familiar with steam. Should have said Currency on Steam.

Ya i do. Like with Guns of Icarus or DotA. And i know, but like i said im sure it'd boost sales enough to make it worth it, especially for the people who don't have credit cards. They can buy steam wallet codes and the Cosmetics that way. Would definately boost sales in the U.S. But i digress, i was just curious as to if they were going to do it at some point since the game is on steam now.

Well I have yet to see an exchange fee on my card (AMEX) for purchases on the store. $17.00 US on the store is $17.00 US on my card. If I was paying in £GBP then I would see the fee.

Well I haven't seen fees with my card and its paid to Frontier nor an increase in price of the items purchased why are you paying in Euros when $USD is an option?

I found and purchased the game through Steam. I'm unable to purchase ANY skins at all and had planned to pick up about 30-40$ worth of skins, but am unable to now. I've been trying to purchase for 4 days. No one seems to have any clue whats going on FDev side. It seems like if you bought via Steam, then you're SOL as far as skins go.

SO I just tried again, and now it lets me. It appears there is a minimum purchase price? which seems silly. On top of that, it adds 15$ USD and does not give us the choice in the steam.elite website to switch to a US currency as the person above me posted.

They are already available to buy with your steam wallet, just go to steam.elitedangerous.com and log in with your Frontier Acc, then Sign with steam.

That or open the store from the Steam Launcher link.

Xoxo.

It doesn't "add $15". It kindly converts GBP (£) to USD ($) for you. It costs you $1.5 to buy £1, because pounds are worth more than dollars.

No minimum price here, also no mysterious +15$USD, I just tried adding the cheapest skin and went to check out, everything seemed fine.

Try adding funds to your wallet before purchasing.]

edit: forget it, as someone mentioned they just converted the currency for you.

I just really wish we could buy the skins separately and not in packs, I don't need a whole rainbow of Vultures, just the orange one =(

That's completely nonsensical. They didn't 'kindly convert' it to GBP for me when I purchased the game. I paid $59.99 USD. I'll just do without skins then.

That already happens if you bought the of Steam or linked your ED account to Steam by requesting a Steam key. It doesn't matter what store these are bought in since the account is linked.

I feel a bit crude talking about 'cuts' and 'percentages' but yes, once you've linked an account, any future purchases on the FD store are affected by this.

Sorry, should've been clear on this one too! This doesn't apply to physical merchandise. Valve don't touch on that, only in-game content.

So since this is now the case then I personally hope that they might put these paintjobs on Steam for greater exposure and hopefully more sales. Valve are going to take a cut anyway so they might as well take advantage of the exposure on the Steam platform.
