As per the thread title.
I just found this out myself, after letting the launcher install the Odyssey update.
I was hoping the launcher would reuse some of my existing alpha files and not have to redownload everything again, which seemed to work. It just seems that Steam is trying to install the DLC to a different folder in the Products directory than the launcher itself.
TLDR; I believe the launcher installed to 'elite-dangerous-odyssey-64' and Steam is trying to install to 'elite-dangerous-64-odyssey'. Disabling the DLC in the Steam game settings worked, it stopped trying to download the 49GB or whatever it was while still being able to launch Odyssey from the launcher itself. Might be useful to people who encounter the same situation and don't want to have 2 versions of Odyssey.
I just wonder if this is by design, or caused by a typo somewhere.
