Steam update question

I converted my ED to steam a few weeks ago. Should I assume Steam will autoupdate my game to Powerplay in a few hours? Thanks.

edit: An update has occurred in the launcher but the game is still down. Can anyone confirm it was 1.3? The update was rather quick.

edit 2: Steam is now downloading a 1.6gb update.

I don't think so, most game with a launcher aren't updated automatically. You will have to launch the launcher then it will give you the option to update instead of playing.

I'd like to know this too. I see people talking about a new launcher from the FD accounts site, but Steam isn't prompting to upgrade.

I recall a flight sim I used to play, where the Steam users got their patches some time after those that bought direct from the developer (sometimes hours, sometimes days). I hope it's not the same with ED.

But more than likely it's just the update still being rolled out.

Steam always updates automatically if you have the default setting , it may update it's own files and then prompt you to install the new launcher but it will trigger when FD send the instruction through to steam to download the update

The launcher but not the game. I was talking about updating the game.

Actually ED when I installed this copy (my second copy) on steam, it installed all the game data, including the previous updates, with the launcher, so you might not have to use the launcher to download the game.

Hmm interesting. I asked because when I downloaded ED on steam it was the current live version at the time. I'll keep an eye out, thanks.

When the update happens, I'll post what happens with the steam version.

exactly was the situation with this copy. So I'm expecting them to release the update through steam again.

I have a steam update coming thru as well, however a few minutes before that when I ran the launcher I had the option to Upgrade the Elite Dangerous (non-Beta) build.

Weird. Steam did an update (not sure what, but it took about 5 minutes).

Launcher still shows ED and ED Powerplay Beta. The beta is prompting to update (probably beta 7 or 8 since I was offline for a few days).

Normally they remove the beta when they release to all.
