SteamVR and Oculus both start when I start E:D ... how to stop?

Apologies if this is obvious or has already been answered, but does anyone know how I can stop this? I borrowed and OR from work ages ago and ever since then Steam VR and Oculus Home both start when I start E:D, and both of course complain that I have no headset connected.

It's just a minor annoyance, but I'd love to fix it (until one day I get my own headset).

drkaii's thread is good for these sorts of question, but I suggest either uninstall Oculus until you get your headset, or use a shortcut that you can create to stop Oculus Runtime.

C:\Windows\System32\net.exe stop OVRService

It might be handy to create it's partner to start OR:

C:\Windows\System32\net.exe start OVRService

However I too get SteamVR starting whenever I open Elite in "Desktop" mode, and have to manually quit it, so if anyone has any answer to stop it's automatic triggering, it would be very much appreciated ;-)

In your Steam library, uninstall SteamVR

I think the SteamVR is getting started by default, and SteamVR calls Oculus Home to start too.

FYI: If I have stopped OVRService with the exe shortcut, StemVR says it's not found, and fails to start. It doesn't initiate OVRService.

Lots of ways of doing this, another way is to add a 'novr' switch to the end of the Target path in the ED Launcher shortcut like this:

But to back up the previous posters, I would recommend uninstalling the Oculus software if you are not using it - on my system when the Oculus app is running it puts the GPU in 3D mode even if no VR experience is running (so higher temperatures etc.).

Thanks all - I was worried that I'd lose my saved game positions etc (not in E : D obviously) but I backed up the Oculus folder and then uninstalled it. It seems to have worked!
