Sticking With The Eagle Viable?

An Eagle, properly equipped, can take out any NPC in the game. It's the most exciting to fly of any ship; speed, agility and knowing that you will die pretty fast if something big draws a bead on you!

You can even use it as an exploration ship if you don't fit any combat-focussed modules. The excellent visibility makes it a great way to explore the galaxy.

I'm loving the eagle too, so much fun to fly. And since I don't have much money to spend (not so much time to play, and don't want to do any trading), the low upkeep is a great plus. Taking out NPCs is generally quite doable (and my outfitting is not exactly top of the line), but I have to say I get my ass handed to me every time I run into a commander with a decked out cobra. Two or three hits and boom...

Eagle is viable for combat and to a lesser degree, exploration. Good ship, just don't try to trade with it for obvious reasons.

I've found the Eagle to be nearly as easy to take out as a Sidey... once you punch through the shields (really easy with beam lasers), have the engines targeted and a few seconds later it's dead in the water, few more seconds and it's dust.

Loved my Eagle and did quite A LOT of bounty hunting in it. The only thing an Eagle can't do quite as well as a Viper or Cobra is PvP. Yeah you could annoy the hell out of any other ship but as soon as you'll get hit, it's over. For everything else? It's an awesome little ship.

I like my Eagle. An awesome ship. Fitted it with most A grade equipment and the only thing left for upgrade is the shield generator (500k+).
Currently have two fixed burst lasers and one gimbaled multicannon. Still thinking if i should fit one fixed beam laser, railgun (or missles, torpedos) and keep the multicannon.

NPC eagles can be laughably weak, but when you come up against one that's hard to shake they can be the worst...

Im still sat in mine and plan to do so until its fully tricked out.

When Ive done that I will save for another ship I will not trade it in but store it and flip between my ship as objectives require.

So far in Beta, Gamma and now release I've always come back to the Eagle. It's just fun to fly... Small, agile, can fit through the mail slot in any orientation, great visibility, super low operating cost as well as fitting the way I want to play. A lot of people out there are all about getting to the top of the pyramid... Gotta earn the big creds to get the big ship. Me? I dig being a courier. Got an 8-spot cargo bay so I can land some worthwhile contracts (140K to haul 8 tons of gold? Yes please!), have upgraded enough that I can take on Imperial Couriers and Pythons (NPCs mind you) and willingly submit to interdictions for the bounty potentials. I'll swap out gear depending on if I feel like exploring or bounty hunting or running cargo. So far I've not picked a faction and don't see that changing unless one side or the other forces me to, at which point I'll immediately go the other way. Eventually I'll go for a bigger ship to do more deep space exploring or really get my hands dirty in combat, but even then I'll still keep the Eagle as the fun little roadster in the garage next to my around-town car.

I would rather stick with the Adder, it has 2 small and 1 medium hardpoints. It also has bigger module spaces and is also very agile, while having better hull and shields. Also, it's kind of underpriced.

I just switched to the Adder last night. It's a little bit slower and slightly less manoeuvrable but the extra internals and the class 2 hard point on too make a world of difference. Cockpit visibility is practically the only thing I don't like. Still the eagle is my fave so far.

I'm a huge fan of the Eagle, too. I mainly do long range exploration, and that drove me from the Eagle to my Cobra, but the Eagle is all around a far more fun ship to fly.
