Sticky for optimal Windows Mixed Reality Headset settings

Whoa! And for Elite that's all you need.

Good buy, I have one and can definitely recommend it, in case anyone here is on the fence.

Certainly is. I'm thinking about getting one for the res upgrade, to tide me over from what I use now (Rift) and what I use at the end of the year (Pimax hopefully.) If you had a Rift now, mossfoot, and this sale came up - would you upgrade, even if only for Elite/Sims? Im leaning towards seeing it as a cheap upgrade...

Although I already have a Vive since launch, I just couldn’t let the lenovo offer up and ordered one. Just curious how it compared to the vive, want to see it for myself.

Could I tap into your experiences?

How good works the motion reprojection nowadays?

What settings do you rock, with what hardware?

What do you think about the FoV of the Lenovo?

What about the image quality? Black levels are more of a grey due to the LCD panel, but how are the colors?

How do you start the game? (Via steam or via Elite Standalone Launcher)

How’s the tracking?

TIA for any answer and insight.

Hello.

I have a Lenovo Explorer and started noticing some flicker in the screen that i believe could have started in the last updates (As i didn't played too much in VR lately i cannot precise the update). The flickering of the screen was very strange as it was only in the background, if i had the menu open it would not flicker, only the background. After digging out for an answer in google (not found) i was trying to test if it was reprojection, settings, super sampling and accidentally started playing without the mouse (pressed Win+Y) and it stopped. Played for some hours without the mouse and never happened again. The mouse pointer is causing this! Tried all the options for the mouse and always does the flicker. Anyone had the same issue?

Try moving to another USB port if one is available. I found that the Lenovo (maybe all WMRs), is sensitive to what USB ports are used and it sometimes affects how other USB devices work with the Lenovo.

Saw some good info in this thread, just wish I could remember it LOL. My Dell WMR arrives tomorrow from Amazon, got a certified refurb for around $220US and a 4 yr warranty for a whole $5.06. I have a Rift right now, and this Dell solves my 2 biggest complaints about the Rift: Can't wear my glasses and as a consequence it's hard to read the keyboard and side monitors when I peek out from under it. According to both video and text reviews I read even large glasses will fit in the Dell, and it has a flip-up feature rather than having to peek from under it. I have used Oculus Desktop but it's easier just to peek out.

I need to read the posts again, I saw something about an app I can install in order to use my Oculus apps. And good info on the USB, the Microsoft WMR compatible test I ran highlighted a possible problem in device manager with USB, but I had both the one that says "Microsoft" after it and the one that doesn't. I have the computer's USB ports and also a 10 outlet USB hub. I have not messed with Steam's VR stuff at all, I will probably have to do that.

Any tips are appreciated!

Just to add my two cents here.

I got a Lenovo Explorer and got it working for Elite Dangerous - BOTH through Steam (using a key) and just through the desktop inside the cliff house using the regular app. It still needs to have Steam VR installed, I believe, but I found it interesting that they access different versions of the game (I had changed the HUD colors on one, not the other)

Hey, I realize it's been 8 months but if you're still around how do you get ED to launch from inside the Cliff House without it being a Microsoft App? The only way I can launch it in VR mode is to use EDProfiler.
