Still can't fire burst lasers nor missiles.

Me again...
Still can not get my weapons to function. I've set my Primary Fire to the Burst Lasers using the main fire button to my joystick 1 and missiles to second fire button on the joystick. I have my fire groups set according to the weapons. I set my weapons energy level to 4 pips, so I know that it can't be lack of power to the weapons.
Also, I still do not have the weapons as being deployed when I hit the "U" to deploy the hardpoints.
Please help - I am getting tired of being jumped by bad guys and not being able to fight back.
 
Sounds like your weapons are powered down. Note that putting four pips to weapons only fills the weapon capacitor that the weapons use to fire, this doesn't give power to the weapons themselves, you'll need to check the right-side Modules panel and make sure your weapons are powered before they can actually fire.
 
So... when you press deploy hardpoints key you get no feedback to say they are being deployed? , if not try binding it to another key? ... wierd though , if it were a power priority issue then you would most likely lose power to most modules when you deployed hardpoints.

Originally i thought explorer mode as opposed to combat mode but i remember from previous thread you stated that you were indeed in combat mode.
 
Pics and/or videos. Double check your key bindings, set "auto deploy hardpoints" so you don't need U. This works for basically everyone else, so you need to work out what you've done different.
 
  • Are your weapons powered according to the Modules panel on the right?
  • Are you in Combat HUD mode?
  • Is your Primary Fire control mapped correctly in the control options?
  • Check again that the fire groups are set up and you have the right one selected
  • Check again that the hardpoints are deployed
Then it really should work.

Other possible troubleshooting steps...
Use the external camera and see if the weapons are actually out.
Set up the discovery scanner on a fire group and try using that, it might flush out any issues with HUD mode or fire control binding.

If you have your fire groups set up then make sure you cycle to the correct group, I think the default key is 'N'? As you cycle you should see you weapons cycle in the hud. If you don't double check your groups...

How do I put my ship into "Combat Mode"?
And yes, the Hardpoints are being deployed. I am just not getting the Burst Lasers to show up on my HUD. (Nor the Missile aiming on the HUD)
How do I get a picture of my HUD? And how do I get outside view of my ship?
 
If the HUD is colored blue, you are in analysis/discovery mode .... if it is orange you are in combat mode.

If you need to swap between analysis and combat mode, you will have to set a key in Options that switches between the two. I ran out of keys on my PC laptop, so I use a combination of Shift and H to change the Hud.


If, assuming you are in Combat mode and your weapons are not showing (cycle by pressing N to go through what you have set), you will need to revisit the right hand panel in Fire Groups tab and ensure they are set to a trigger 1 or 2. (A picture of the Firegroups screen is shown above, yours will appear slightly different because you have different equipment and weapons.)

While looking at the right panel, check your Modules tab, to be sure that the weapons are checked as "on".

That's all there can be ..... unless you are an Xbox player, in which case you will have to ask in that section of the forum :)
 
Go to a station, change ship (anything cheap will do). See if you have the same problem. Then back to your original ship. It may clear.
 
Well I'm having a similar problem - burst lasers work, but torpedoes won't. Module active - check, enough power - check, launcher deployed - check, fire group set - check, got ammo - check. Still, that thing won't fire.
