Engineers Still Confused On The Primary Effects Screen

I'm very new to Engineers and have started to upgrade my Python. I have managed to get to Grade 5 at Felicity Farseer and trying to increase my FSD Range.

When I go to the 'View Cost & Generate' screen, how can I be sure I'm getting the best result with each generate, I assume there is no way to go back if try number 4 was better than try number 5 - what should I be looking for ? After one generate I managed to get to 24Ly which doesn't seem very good for a grade 5 upgrade, someone on another post says he has 32 ??

Again, how can I get the maximum benefit when trying to generate a modification.

Just remember to include the full context of your own loadout vs. anything you compare it with.

32 for a Python sounds like some sacrifices were made, making it either an exploration or trading loadout.
Weapons might be removed, or something like the very heavy class 7 Power distributor was downgraded.

Yes indeed, mine does 32 unloaded with 47% optimal mass, trading configuration, modules A but downgraded and D sensors and life support. And no weapons. If fully specced I would say that 26 is pretty good...

That's good to know, mines fully A spec'd
