Still don't understand people's big grief with game

Maybe just lucky or fortunate, but I have not encountered the spontaneous destruction of my ship or any of the major bugs that people have found.

These forums were excellent through Beta into Gamma, a source of great information / encouragement to Elite community. Now I've logged back on in a while and every other thread is a moan/ not happy, this could be changed, this is not fair etc etc. what the hell has happened.? I'm still enjoying the game, finished 2 other games completely that I got at Christmas but still enjoying elite as much now as I was when I first played in Beta.

I'd also like a little more content / more interesting missions but am happy that it takes time to amass credits to upgrade, combat should be hard / unpreditable and exploring should take time. Yes there are bugs but what game does not have them, the posts of rage quitting because combat is hard, trading is not profitable and exploring takes too long to scan a system are ludicrous IMO.

Surely the game is playable and enjoyable for most, it cost a lot of people less than the conveyer belt of games that come from EA and Ubisoft with a short shelf life. I'd love to see the stats on how many people play the game and how many people moan like on here.

1.1 was a good update, to name but one massive improvement, the Galaxy map is hugely improved, love the acknowledgement of being the first to discover planets.

I await with interest the new ships, content, more exciting missions, Thargoids :) but I won't be quitting until I see them.

Pretty much my feelings too.
People do have real issues/problems and it is only right they post them but much of it is done in such a negative way.

Congrats, you're part of the majority of ED players. :D

A few are having issues tho, and they kind of have the right to be loud on the forums.

My feelings too.

But if David Braben doesn't personally come to my home to explain why this don't work, that don't work and I can't have the only indestructible ship in the game I'm going to SCREEEEEEEEEEEAM and SHOOOOOOOOUT!

:D

Because people are different and have different experiences.

Not sure it needed another thread on the subject, there have been numerous ones.

He's here right now, massaging my shoulders to relieve the Warthog tension. Once he has warmed my slippers I will point him in your direction

How else to express yourself when something goes wrong? You will never make everyone 100% content. There will always be issues that drive some mad. That doesn't mean that the game is bad but it does have flaws. Over time they may become less as FD sort them which will make some happier though not all. Some people just love a good moan when things don't go their way, I know I'm one. Best thing to do is what my wife does and ignore it if you can't handle it. :)

Looks like the 'Candy Crush' players have joined & are trying their hand at a space sim game.

Just like the OP I'm thoroughly enjoying the game & not experiencing things that 'other players' moan about. it's getting better with each update

Awesome

I absolutely love this game. Really don't understand all the hate and whining. I've definitely got my £40 worth of entertainment already and can't wait to see how the game continues to develop.

A project of this awesome scope and imagination inevitably has ongoing bug issues. That's life and that's part of the process.

Beat and Gamma people knew what they were into. Now there's all the entitlement kiddies that think instead of getting information before purchasing an item they should be able to purchase a random item and then ask it to be changed into another item that they might like.
Dunno when that kind of mentality started taking hold in society, but apparently it is widespread (and there's people who have actually talked about lawsuits because FD gave them what they sell instead of what they wanted to buy...go figure o_O )

Playing devil's advocate here, but not everyone bought a beta game. I think people bought the released product expecting it to be finished, like it would be if it was a car, house, book, movie - you know anything else.

They have the right to be loud once per issue they have. *nods* Let their feelings be known, and then either wait for improvement or just stop playing.

When people write for the 100th time in threads "mile wide, inch deep" and other common moans, it gets really really droll.

If i buy a jigsaw puzzle...iv to finish it myself!!!

I couldn't agree more. Yes, people have the right to express dissatisfaction with aspects of the game but it doesn't have to be done in such a childish negative way. All that will achieve is to put potential new players off the game which will reduce the income to the company and make it more difficult to give us the new features we're all looking forward to.

The ones that wind me up are the "I hate this game. I'm never playing it again and you shouldn't too" threads.
OK, if you don't like it for whatever reason and don't want to play it any more then don't. Just go. You're not adding anything to the game or the community by hanging around hoping to validate your opinion by putting other people who may well love the game as much as some of the rest of us do.

As I say, constructive criticism is fine. Negativity isn't.

Well those people haven't bought a game in a long time then, because thats pretty standard nowadays.

I blame the "DLC generation".

Some people get very angry when things aren't the way they want them. I know of a guy who got served his big mac too slowly and called 911.
Of course he got arrested :)

Welcome to the internets. A large series of tubes filled with cat pictures and people who like to complain.

I've been playing since beta 3 and haven't had too many issues. A couple of disconnects but otherwise fine.
Nothing is perfect, E:D has a way to go still but things are mostly looking better in a relatively short period of time.

PLEASE STOP SAYING THE GAME ISN'T FINISHED, it shows how entitled and ignorant you are. ED IS AN MMO. Please show me 1 just 1 MMO that had all the bells and whistles on it day 1 of release.. hint hint THERE IS NONE! The game is what you would call "vanilla". If you ever played another MMO in vanilla (wow, eve, insert others here) and compare it to what the game is today, they've become almost unrecognizable. This is because an MMO evolves and develops as time goes on and new content is added. This isn't some crap "AAA" title like COD where you get the "full game" day 1 and get "new" content in the form of a DLC map for 20$ (which they took out of the main game to resell to you ;) ). For all intents and purposes the GAME IS FINISHED. Claiming otherwise just shows your ignorance in the ways of how an MMO is developed.

TL;DR If you're crying the game isn't finished, then you have no understanding of how an MMO develops and evolves.
