Still learning all the symbols in the HUD

Greetings everyone,
This is my first post, (I am not counting the introduction post...) and, like so many first 'posters', I will ask forgiveness  from the mods and to please relocate this post, if/as required.

My question: I still haven't figured out what the blinking red warning sign that appears in the info display (top right of the cockpit) means. I know it is not good news [where is it] (red is almost always bad news!) but I still don't know exactly what bad news it could be! It appears mostly (that I have noticed) when I am speeding away from a star.

If anyone could fill this gap in my knowledge, I would be grateful.

Cheers, all, and safe exploring.

Casual Veteran here. I have no idea either. I saw a list of it a couple of times here but I always forget all the tiny icons again. Maybe someone can link it.

Not sure of the link but I believe that warning is that you are in close proximity to either the star, planet, stations, other ship or other things like that

Most likely temperature warning. The buzzer and lights come on at 80%, though you are safe up until 100% (well, you can go quite a bit higher, but that will result in some damage).

I believe there are two icons/displays - one for 'impact', and the other for 'proximity'.

I can't recall which way around they are without looking, but the first is proximity, ie: you are near a star or rings or station, then the other one [impact] implies that if you stay on the exact current course and speed you will hit that big bloomin' object that it was referring to!

Take for example, heading towards a RES marker. When you get close to the rings, the proximity one comes up, and kind of hangs around. Once you are close enough, and turn in towards the marker, the impact one comes up as well. Ergo if you stay on course you will face-plant the ring!

Does this make sense? Sadly I cant remember which one is which, but I have a hunch that the warning triangle '(!)' type one comes up first, then it comes up with the word 'impact'. Do let someone kindly correct/clarify this though! It is almost as if it is an idiot's guide to what you are aiming at?!

Cheers,
The Hat :)
