Still No Bug Fixes Then?

So, another week's maintenance and still no bug fixes or any word from FDev? Is it really that difficult to pen a short missive apologizing and giving an estimate on when progression blocking bugs are expected to be fixed?
Thursday ticks aren't for bug fixing, they are for BGS and PP. FDev will put out a message before hand stating when servers will be down and for how long, even for hotfixes and patches.

No offence, but irrelevant to my point. It's a time marker given the update that introduced a host of bugs into existing gameplay came out on a Thursday.
My "point" is, you shouldn't use the weekly server tick as a point of expectation for bug fixes. If you wanna create a rant thread in general, have it. No offense, but it makes you sound like you just started playing last week.

I shouldn't use an action to ensure the integrity of the game as an expectation of ensuring game integrity. Ok. /facepalm

The weekly maintenance has yet to run, by all means grumble about the developer taking (quite reasonable) time resolving issues rather than, I don't know, the 2-3 knee jerk reactions very early on, that went down very poorly.

I absolutely hope they take enough time to solve issues properly and don't just rush out temporary fixes that cause more harm than good. The game has seen an uptick in players, so I am sure Frontier are considering their options accordingly.

The weekly maintenance finished 30 minutes ago.

There is no "quite reasonable" time for bugs they introduced into existing gampeplay by failing to test the update properly.

Edit: I'm not quite sure why you find it a "knee-jerk" reaction to complain about progression blocking bugs that are clearly the result of the latest update, but hey ho.

You can test as much as you want in pre-prod. You simply won't find some bugs until it hits production and is played by the masses. This is a basic element of software development. File a bug report, it will be prioritized and fixed in time.

It has not; powerplay has not updated for the week. The launcher also shows maintenance still active. But I mean keep complaining about how your timetable for recovery actions is not being met. I was just correcting an apparent assumption.

Maybe we are lucky and they do fix a few bugs during maintenance. Server side changes that don't require a client update, if I remember correctly they used to do that sometimes. I've been away for some time though, maybe things changed. And it's just wishful thinking anyway.

What definitely didn't change is that we are still having the same discussions.

Ignore the launcher and login. Maintenance was finished by 07:45 GMT.

I will indeed continue complaining about a major bug that FDev have yet to comment on, that was a direct result of their failure to simply test one thing outside of PP2.0. It's poor development.

It's not exactly an hard to find bug. It's bad developement. It's been reported for 2 weeks. It took 30 minutes of play for me to find, recreate, and confirm. FDev choose to remain silent.

Never mind - you'll get used to how things work around here eventually ;)

The only thing "ascending" this update is the amount of game breaking bugs and exploits, jump times for both normal ships and carriers and the frequency of disconnects and error codes.

To name a few major bugs and issues off the top of my head:
  • Flickering shadows still not fixed (added with update 18, top voted issue all through update 18, never fixed, not mentioned in U19 patch notes, still present in game as of 13/11/24)
  • Shadows underneath ships on planetary surfaces are still broken (this was claimed to be fixed by update 18 but instead just added the even worse flickering shadows bug that still persists)
  • The menu used to transfer odyssey assets, goods and data to and from fleet carriers is COMPLETELY broken, totally unusable, full stop. If you are extremely lucky you may be able to transfer a single item before you just get "the selected resource is no longer available" and you cannot transfer anything to or from your carrier. Yes the bartender is turned off and is not selling or buying anything, no my capacity is not full, yes I've tried everything to fix this.
  • Mandalay thrust vectoring is completely reveresed and makes no physical sense. This is what tells me the people who develop this do not play the game whatsoever.
  • Mandalay thrust plumes are mirrored, and appear through the lower front of the ships hull in the case of the main engines, and the plumes exit the rear of the vectoring thrusters through solid ship geometry (especially visible when landing gear are deployed and the vectoring thrusters have plumes aimed towards the ground, which is normal, but also plumes coming out of the top, which is a major error). Like how was this not instantly caught, its so obvious (see images). And you charge money for this.
  • You cannot buy or sell items from fleet carrier bartenders due to a "transaction error". This is a seperate issue to the material transfer menu. Bartender upkeep reimbursement when?
  • The broken galaxy map filters (bruh, do you even have a QA team these days?). Change its operation back to how it was before U19, where you click to confirm application of a filter instead of auto applying when we mouse over it and taking it away when we dare try to click a system.
  • The broken powerplay galaxy filter. No one likes having to reselect their power for the tenth time during a single galaxy map visit.
  • The data port exploit
  • Not being able to apply engineer upgrades to suit or weapons. This appears to be random but right now is affecting Extra Ammo Capacity for the suits and Reload Speed for weapons. Simply cannot apply the affect despite having materials. This is annoying after the scope mod bug only just got fixed.
  • Massive, lengthy stuttering (not FPS drops, I mean fully fledged hitches where your screen freezes for half a second about 10 times then sorts itself out). This was introduced with update 19. Drivers are up to date and have been rebuilt since U19 and still the same god awfull freezing and hitching.

My bug list is starting to look larger than the actual "content" that was added. Seriously Frontier like do you even test your builds before pushing them? Somehow you pick up on overagressive NPCs and delay the update but somehow all the above gets through??? Makes me wonder how god awful that NPC issue must have been for them to delay the update if they then allow crap like this to get through, smh, honestly unbelievable.

I could go on all day but I think the point I'm trying to make is clear:
Myself and many others are hardly impressed by update 19. Dissapointed even. As soon as I scrolled down to the bug fixes section in the U19 patch notes and saw how short it was I knew this was gonna be a rough update, especially considering the fact we all knew the update would come with its own set of bugs. The lack of any mentioning of flickering shadows did anger me after players have been screaming about if for most of the year now. It makes all that time and effort Frontier's visual team does useless, because players are too busy suffering a seizure to appreciate the graphics, and those that are not can't see anything and think they are at some underground rave.

Frontier. Spend 6 months or even a whole year just addressing all these bugs. And please just declare server maintencance times to be 2 hours long instead of this unrealistic 40 minutes that is never achieved.

Images of broken mandalay thrust plumes being mirrored thus clipping through ship geometry. How this was missed is beyond my comprehension.

One more item for the list:
- Fuel scooping indicator overlap with FSD charge indicator in Mandalay cockpit. When overlap happens, a block with destination information doesn't show. Exploration ship hey!
