CQC Still no select highest threat.../??????

Since CQC is a "sport", they have removed several usable combat features to make it rely more on the pilots skill and tactics then on ship systems.
In "real" combat, youll take any edge and advantage you can. In a sport, to make it more enjoyable, youll have to remove some of them.

Personally, I like this approach.
.....good point..... so used to hitting my combat buttons....im on auto... :)....... will have to adjust... probably why i keep getting rammed..... they dont fire just charge straight at me.... no lock ??

Remember also that there is a pickup called "stealth" that will make you unlockable/untargetable for a while. Chasing such a foe can be very frustrating!

For what its worth though, ive not played much CQC but what I HAVE played have been a struggle. I cant seem to shake a pursuer, cant seem to outmaneuver anyone and it seems the only kills I ever get is due to intercepting someone focusing on another player.
Very rarely have I gotten any sense of acomplishment for anything relating to CQC.
My kills are "cheapshots", my escapes are almost non-existant and the ranking system is a complete joke.

While I agree on the ranking system having it's flaws and increasing the gap between casual gamers and sportsmen, the rest is indeed a matter of practice.

About evasion - you'll be amazed what kinds of turns you can make around sharp, threatening corners - crashing damage seems drastically reduced so bumping into things isn't as dangerous as it is in non-CQC. Chaff and heat sinks irritate foes locks. So does breaking line of sight. I personally get great satisfaction out of flying dangerously, cutting corners, thrusting sideways through tight spaces. Little things like that.

It's an intense combat simulator where you can run wild without the flight assistant (I've seen people fly with it turned off altogether) and can experiment with combining your thrusters with the momentum you already have. You'll get better at outmaneuvering others as soon as you have a plan about what you want to do, where you want to be when your target/pursuer arrives somewhere else. These plans will automate into skill from repetition.

Another factor is learning to adjust your power distribution to the situation you are in - or the one that you want to be in next.

As soon as your vessel bows to your will, kills will follow.
You'll still die. We all do. - but in CQC, deaths can only hurt your score and ego.
