Still something a bit wrong with the trade map

The trade map is supposed to show you the supply routes of goods to and from systems, except it really doesn't. I've been aimlessly flying from system to system trying to source non-lethal weapons for a bulletin board mission. To help me out I opened the trade lanes section of the galaxy map and set it to just show the commodity I was interested in. I found that the map showed the arrows moving outwards from a couple of systems. So, thinking that this means those are the systems of origin for the commodity, I went to the origin point of those lines. And what do I find? No stock! In fact they are in demand there, even more so than in the system that I got the mission from.. I tried flying to the other systems that the stock was indicated as moving out of and found the same result.

Surely if the stock in a system has run out and they're now at a point where a commodity is in demand, the map should update to indicate this so you don't have to go on a massive wild goose chase looking for items to buy that don't exist in the first place? Surely, if the item was also in demand in that system, the arrows should be moving into the system rather than out, or not moving at all? :S
