Still sore after the npc combat downgrade ?

That's odd. You agree with what Stigbob is saying, but still manage to make it sound like you disagree?

I am sympathetic to a lot of what he is saying. My point is that what an earlier poster said about difficulty settings being in the players hands is better because it would have settled all disagreements for the last 1-1/2 years. You could keep everything you have in the game right now and still give people ultimate control over their instance of play by giving difficulty controls. More Choice.

You mean with a setting in the game options, something along those lines? I don't see how that's possible in an MMO that is unpausable and all of our actions regardless of mode effect one another and the BGS. I think certain regions being more likely to spawn difficult (or the reverse) enemies is ultimately the only way the "majority" is going to end up being happy in the long run.

I agree with your point that "certain regions being more likely to spawn difficult" is probably the only thing that could happen to make most people happy given how split the player base is. I do feel, however feel that the notion of a difficulty control somehow affecting the BGS in any significant way is only in peoples mind. I do not believe that you could have a control like this in an instance of open; open would remain the highest difficulty and anyone using it would know that. But for Solo or Private Groups you could because there is only those players being affected by that setting. The game is already instanced in such a way that you only interact with whatever cmdrs the instance allows. The same kind of control could be used to decide the difficulty of any npcs spawned there as well.

As for the BGS, there is literally no way for you, or I, or anyone to know how easy or how hard anyone else is working in a different instance then our own. We may think there is a true effect on our game play, but there really isn't.

You sir sing the song of my soul.

Yes I have killed exactly 1 CMDR to vent my frustration at the lack a good fight. Then looking at the pitiful debris, I somehow magically didn't feel any better. NPCs were still dunceworthy.

Let the record show that I predicted that after 2 months of engineers, people would realize that the NPCs were a joke without access to the same mods.

OK Frontier time to notch it up. Give us some OP Thargoid scout ships to swat (us) down.

Most players aren't as good as you in combat, heck most don't even have weapons - even less engineered ones - because they don't use them and if they did have weapons it would change nothing.

They, and don't forget here those without access to engineers too, just can't upgrade their ship and are defenseless against the same ship fully engineered, it's just... painful to see an engineered FDL fighting a "vanilla" one. The vanilla FDL has just no chance to win. Nada. None. The engineered one could have up to three times the dps, two times the shields (even more actually) and be way faster and nimble.

That's why NPCs were stripped of those. They were destroying players who could not even flee a python in their cobra (because those thrusters upgrades on the python am i right ?) : the python was still faster and had thermal and stuff.

The first nerf was that, at least. The second one I don't like : they limited the best behaviours in combat to deadly and Elite NPCs only, and only Elites can have sometimes engineered stuff. That's a sad downgrade right there.
