Newcomer / Intro Still training

I'm an old BBC Elite player, playing myself in on the "training tutorial" simulations. And I need it.

I destroyed the toxic waste canisters, no probs! But the Basic and Advanced Combat- are they endless?
The single combat got boring so I moved on and I've been trying to shoot down those Federation fighters for two days now, expecting to eventually succeed as a marker of my progress and fitness to proceed. But they seem invulnerable - or else I'm still no good. Then I noticed, after I decided on new tactics, to use up all my missiles. I did - and miraculously got a fresh-filled rack!

Are the training sims never-ending?
If so, I'll move on. If I'm supposed to destroy the Feds, I'll persevere.

To be honest, I never got past that one victorious, myself. :D
But if you're able to survive five or six waves and are able to fend off two ships at once, I'd say you are more than entitled to move on into the real galaxy. Most of the time you won't fight more than one (max two) hostiles, unless you're so clumsy to shoot a cop or so... :)

Welcome in Commander I say jump on in the training is far more intense than most real situations your going to encounter but do check the docking and travel ones if you have not already if not the training vids on the launcher will be helpful as a final port of info gatherage.

Thanks, guys! I will persevere, although a brief trip into the next tutorial was very brief indeed, before I was space dust.

And have I now found a glitch?
Reading the manual (always an admission of inadequacy, I know) I reset the balance between systems, enghines and weapons (Press Kybd 4 and use the four arrow keys). This disabled the throttle, and made my opponents into yellowbellied cowards, who skulked in the distance, sent rude messages telling me to die (from "Crimson Sidewinder"!) and whose radar traces turend into small rectangles, instead of triangles. Very boring. Resetting back to equal balance did not restore the situation. Does this always happen?

Well i must disagree on this even when careful to not attack cops i had 1 vs 5 battles.
Also if you go to a conflict zone there you can have more then 1 vs 5.

if this happens put some of your power in to your engine or use boost.

The moment you remove power from your engines you will go slower.

Well duh :D
Conflict zones are something different, but save them, I never fought more than two ships at once at Nav Beacons or USS. (Unless you attack the convoy or something. :p)

hitkill,
Tried that, restoring the same balance of power - no effect.
And once you have set a velicity, the engine keeps you there, normally. Under these circumstances you stay stchumm. Nothing, nda , no movement, no acceleration/decelerration, and there's an odd noise. Didn't mention it before as noises so hard to describe, but it 's like a juddering! Weird!
