Stolen goods navy rank missions

Yesterday, I finished many of those illegal salvage smuggling missions (ancient artifacts, trade data, experimental chemicals, etc). I had a cargo hold of over 100 of them of 10 different types. I learned that you don't have to go to a particular system to get them. Just go a distance away from any station, drop to 30km/s and wait for the multitude of WSS that pop up immediately in front of you. I used cargo limpets to gather everything that came my way and completed a ton of those missions. What was left over, I sold for a nice sum on the black market. I used a heat shield on entry to the slot to mask my approach and used boost on exit (when still carrying some illicit goods) to get away from authority ships before being scanned.
.
I stayed away from the stolen cargo smuggling missions because it takes awhile using a cargo scanner to find a ship carrying the right cargo.

1. get a friend and have them purchase the product but don't wing up.
2. Have them meet you at a location and jettison the cargo.
3. ???
4. Pfofit

Is the mechanic really that dumb?

Surely the mission should specify the targets you need to retrieve the stolen goods from, as I assume the point is to disrupt a rival faction. And similarly it should require the goods be obtained from NPCs, as getting them other commanders is just a trivial exploit as you've just shown.

I just got such mission. Asked me to look for salvage in unpopulated system. Flying around for over half hour - not a single signal source :(

Well, avoid this "mission" (Mission is with Objective and fun. This is not mission.) and if you NEED do it (for Navy rank) call a friend.

GG Frontier, after the "Connect/Disconnect" gameplay for rank, we have to steal our friends.
Elite is progressing.
