No. They are not celebrating love or empathy, or non-violence towards each other in the sight of the creator of this quantum reality constructed by God.
Find Jesus you guys, ya all need him.
Why do I need to find Jesus? Is he lost?
Seriously though.. If someone can point to where in the Bible it says to celebrate His birth. I'll do it. However, with that said. December 25th isn't Jesus' birthday. Since the sheep herders don't take out their stock to graze during the winter. The date was set due to how practical it was for the Roman Empire. And they used Rah's birthdate. The Romans knew that the community was greatly influenced by Egyptian religions and basically set things up to appease the masses. Romans loved playing with calendars...
Aside from the coincidences:
Rah:
His mother was a woman called Meri
His father was called Jo-Sep
His father was of royal descent
His birth was heralded by a star
His birth was witnessed by Shepherds
King Herut tried to have him killed
He was 30 when baptised
His baptiser went on to be beheaded
He was followed by 12 disciples
He walked on water and healed the sick
He gave a 'sermon on the mount'
He was crucified
...between 2 thieves
He was buried in a tomb
He was resurrected after 3 days
Just food for thought... But truly, this place isn't for arguing theology.
And me, if I celebrate ANYTHING on this day.. it's love towards my neighbor.
