Stop hiding the exclusion zone in hazardous environments, please.

I've got it turned on for a reason. Constantly teasing me with "Oh, now you can see it! Oh, it's gone! Oh, you can see it again!" is intensely irritating. The whole point of indicating it is so that we can manoeuvre around it, and that's not made any easier when it's only visible when I'm already on a collision course with it. XD

Yes.

Big problems with the exclusion zone:
1) It only appears at all for the current reference body. If there are multiple objects close together you can hit the exclusion/orbital cruise zone for one without being able to see it
2) It only appears depending on your trajectory, so if you're facing away from the centre of an object but still within the exclusion zone, it might only become visible too late to turn
3) It only appears depending on your speed, so if you're travelling slowly you can't actually tell if it's safe to speed up or if you're actually pointed into it

If it appeared in the same conditions as the planetary mapping blue spheres - solely dependent on the apparent angular size of the exclusion zone, and becoming visible when this exceeds a few degrees - it would be far more useful.

I reported it as a bug with a bunch of screenshots at https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/660 if anyone wants to add confirmations to that before it expires.

So space? Space is a very hazardous environment.

If I can't see the exclusion zone I swing wide, but it would be nice for it to be visible reliably. Somewhat uncommon, however.

I am sure the idea of that was to remove the yellow lines when traveling at low SC speed to make taking pictures better, I seem to recall that was a request by players a while back. You throttle to zero in SC all the orbit lines and exclusion zone lines and etc disappear. Given the nature of the beast this will of course create some issues, for instance if I jump out of hypespace into a new system and I am near an asteroid field the acceleration will be extremely slow and the exclusion line sometimes won't appear until I am almost on it because I'm not traveling fast enough for them to appear until then. However that's the price you have to pay when adjusting game settings due to player request, not everyone is going to be happy.

I just accept that sometime yes, space is dangerous, I can tell when I start getting to close and the exclusions lines don't appear and adjust for it. Exclusion zones are, by definition, in dangerous zones, but unhiding them is probably not going to happen because that would defeat the point of hiding them in the first place

I think this is probably true, but since then they added the orbit lines toggle which also hides exclusion zones anyway, and in a more effective way.

Yeah, it can be a pain. I've taken to using the red zone on the scanner as a warning that I'm getting too close to a body, rather than relying on the HUD.
