Note to all factions great and small: could you kindly stop terraforming planets around the galaxy? Every planet you terraform, is one fewer planet that we can land on in Horizons.

Ideally, can we un-terraform planets? Mars, I'm looking at you...

I'm afraid it's not just earthlikes, but all planets with atmosphere that are going to be locked off in the first release of Horizons.

Wait a minute, if you cannot land on planets with atmospheres when Horizons comes out, that rules out more than just earth like, waterworlds and terraformed planets. All those planets with nitrogen, carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, amonia atmospheres etc will be off limits too. Not to mention gas giants being nothing but atmosphere .

Yeah, sorry guys. Any terraforming candidate has too much atmosphere to be in Horizons anyway, so this won't actually help anything.

Maybe this is only true for the first Versions. At the End of Horizons we'll be able to land everywhere... think about the name of the Expansion: "Horizons"...

Now what about the wee planets with seasonal atmospheres? We'd need to get off them before spring thaw starts!

Any object of sufficient mass is going to have an atmosphere (except in cases where strong solar winds strip the planet or some other phenomena). So, even before terraforming, there would still be air to contend with...even if it is like 80% methane or CO2.

Now, if we had a gun like the Solar Wind Generator 5000, then we could land on Earth before that season is released.

Yep. I'm betting this is like a proof of concept phase. After a few months of commanders feeding FD meta they can then lock down the core process and start testing the in game physics for atmospherics. There are a few games out there that tried similar features and way over reached their capabilities. Starforge was one of those. It promised real world physics in a persistent world and they could never get the basics like gravity to work.

Yes I was quite disappointed Mars was terraformed especially as we have detailed video of what it looks like in real life.
