Does the engineered gear you have in storage stay at the station it is stored at or is it like materials, data in that it follows the Cmdr?.

If you are talking about things like weapons, thrusters, FSD then these stay at the station you stored them at. They can, like ships, be transported to the system you are at for a fee as long as the station has outfitting available.
Materials and data are stored with the active ship and moved whenever you change ship.
Commodities like modular terminals or gold are not storable.

I am thinking about making the hike out to Colonia and have three heavily engineered ships, an Anaconda which I will use to get there plus an FDL and a Cobra MkIV. From what I can gather it could be quite expensive to transport the two ships that distance therefore I could for example store the engineered parts/modules sell the two ships at basic then when I find a base of operations in the Colonia system rebuy the two ships and reinstall the upgrades. Is this feasible and does anyone have any idea of cost?.
