This was something I discussed with forumites last year, but worth bringing up again. 
It would be really awesome if we had a "wallet" or something similar that you could essentially deposit X amount of credits into as a means to make sure you always have enough to cover the value of your insurance.
Obviously, you would have to add / remove any excess as your insurance costs change due to modular changes, etc. But that's part of the fun.
In particular, this would aid in resolving a slightly irritating problem when trying to judge how much of a commodity to buy when you're low on cash or more specifically when buying new modules for your ship.
I've often found myself buying slightly too much (meaning I don't have enough left for insurance) and having to sell them back at a loss which is annoying!
Alternatively, when buying modules, sometimes its far too easy to buy a module and forget about the insurance budget.
