Hello people of the Frontier,
First, I want to thank you for this game I've been immersed into since release, I didn't know about it before release and I've never played any of the Series' previous episodes mostly because I was still too young by that time (born late 1990). I just knew the Original Elite because a few years ago I was doing some research into Procedural Content Generation in Games and it basically was one of the first things I bumped into, But I am definitely enjoying it to the point that I put all my other games (still new) in a Drawer, bought a HOTAS System and dived into this world every time I had some minutes to spend in front of my 3D TV (3D in this game is incredible, I can't imagine what it would be with an Oculus DK2).
As for my Gameplay Feature request, I thought it would be great to have a Stored Ship Delivery System, I quickly fall in love with every new ship I acquire, especially my Badass Orange Viper, and when I get to change for a new ship I kind of like to keep the old ones. The thing is the Game World is so big that if I wanted to go back to my Eagle for a little tour, It would basically take me as much time as I spent going in the other direction which is annoying when we are trying to reach a specific system.
Basically the system would allow you to pay for you stored ship delivery, the cost of delivery would depend on the distance between the system you want it delivered to and the system the ship is currently stored in. It could also depend on things like the Jump Range of the ship, if the Ship's Jump Range doesn't allow it to get to where you want it delivered, it means that your ship has to be transported inside another bigger ship which would cost more...
I Would like to know what do you think about this Idea, as a Game Programmer working at Ubisoft I'd say that it is quite an easy system to implement, but I don't know if you would like to have such a feature in you game.
Regards,
