Ships Storing modules

I'm fairly new to ED - a few weeks - and still learning the ropes. I've got my Cobra Mk III configured with a bias toward running Trade missions...for now, but do the occasional jaunt out to the local Nav Beacon to scalp a bounty or two

Question: is it advisable/possible to store unnecessary modules for this task? For example: fuel scoop, cargo racks, and anything otherwise weighing down/slowing down my ship. And are stored modules only retrievable in the originally stored location? Fee's?

Yes it's advisable to use specialized outfits for specialized missions (i.e. more hull on a conbat build).
You can re-fit the stored modules only at the port where you store them, but you can transfer modules from another port to your location for a price.

Be careful, removing modules from a wanted ship makes those modules unfittable unless you clean them. For a price.
 
Yeah, it all just costs money to transfer, all free storage, max 120 stored modules, eventually you will only store Engineered stuff.

Consider buying another ship and outfitting that one a different way or can use for storage if run out of space.

Fee for transport is some kind of 'Value + Distance = Fee' but usually cheap. As stated if its got a fine or bounty it will need cleaning (25% of value fee iirc) so cheaper to clean the entire ship by paying off bounties instead usually for the normal accidental criminal (what do you mean Personal Weapons are illegal, the previous market told me you bought them at profit, didnt mention illegal and no Black Market?)

Stored Modules are in the bottom of Outfitting as a group, filtered by whatever your current filters are with any modules at that station at the top of the list for ease.

When buying a module for a slot with a module already in 'Exchange' sells the previous module, 'Store' puts it into storage at that base until you move it.

Pleasantries aside, if you're out at the Beacon and accidentally shoot a Federation Security ship I'll be one of the red triangles turning on you like a hungry cannibal.
