Newcomer / Intro Storing on ship or transferring

Hey.....

Is it possible to "store" things on a parked ship?

Ie... I've got my cobra parked at the same place my ASP is currently located. If I want to get something and "hold on to it" ... can I run a trip with my cobra to acquire the items, then bring it back to the station, park it, switch to my asp and have a nice empty cargo hold? Or does the cargo transfer from the cobra to the asp, when I switch ships?

Also, along the same lines, is there any sort of "bank" where you can store items or transfer items between ships or anything?

Greetings
No, unfortunately we don't have cargo storage atm. However, any cargo you have on your ship will transfer to your new ship, PROVIDING you have enough cargo space available on the ship you want to transfer TO. So, it is best to equip your ships with cargo racks before you swap to another ship, just in case you want to swap back (with cargo) in the future. NOTE. You cannot transfer part of the cargo, it's all or nothing.

Perhaps in the future FD will introduce cargo storage, but there is nothing currently in the pipeline that we know of.

Darn. That's too bad. I just picked up a nice haul of meta-alloys on my Cobra, that I'd like to keep in "reserve."
But I don't want to just take up that cargo space as storage on my ASP when I need the max I can get for running trades and missions.
Meta-alloys seem to be the highest value item right now with all the UA bombings.
Maybe it's worth the space to just hang on to it.

Is there a way to maybe create a second account and store it there or anything?

There are players who do buy a second account ramp up the ship for as much cargo as possible, then presumably run both accounts at the same time and dump the cargo from one ship and scoop it in the other. I know it is done but am not 100% on the mechanics.

That's some clever lateral thinking there. My brain doesn't work that way!

Module and weapon storage is coming but I'd love to store the cargo too. The same reason: meta alloys. I picked up 8T from Darnielle's progress, but the Engineer only needed 1 at the time. I wish I could store the remaining 7 for later. I ended up selling them at loss :(

i was thinking about something along these lines, the game is only $20 and can run on medium grade hardware enough for a secondary account, but it appears to be too cumbersome and too time consuming to be worth the effort. Hopefully, future patches will add such functionality.

Edit: After thinking for a bit, I think the game would have a lot more appeal to me if I could store things and transfer between ships and stations. It's one of the most limiting factors right now.

Don't hold your breath for this one, it's probably very expensive for FD to develop such an advanced feature.

FDev really ought to have thought this through with the release of Engineers. I suspect they will introduce a solution in next seasons content because it is a very desirable feature = incentive to buy

Yes, this would be huge. I still only own one ship, an Asp Exp since I don't have enough CR for another. I switched few times from trading to exploration, I even went bounty hunting once. Every time I sell any A class part I have hard time finding them later. Even George Lucas in Leesti was out of A upgrades yesterday and I needed to reconfigure my Asp to begin my journey to Jaques. I would love to be able to store these parts somewhere. I don't really need another ship except for this problem. Having parts storage would allow me to use one Asp for all my needs. Right now, I'm thinking about getting a T6 for trading and leave the Asp outfitted for exploration as it is too time consuming to find the parts.

I am sure that someone on the gamescon live stream mentioned that they were working on a kind of storage at Enginers bases so you could drop off things they require as and when rather than having to provide it in one go.
