Stow money away somewhere at no extra benefit!

Hey FD, I've been thinking, I do want to restart in a Sidewinder again, but I don't want to clear my save and lose months of progress and my shiny new FdL. I could easily buy myself a new sidewinder, but the profits that it can get that seemed so huge when I first had it, seem so tiny when they go into my 5.4 million account. I would like to be able to stow my FdL and all of my credits sparing 1,000 in whatever station my FdL is in, buy a stock Sidewinder and start it all again.

I would fly to Eranin and stow the FdL, buy a Sidewinder and pretend that it's Beta 1 again

Why not buy a ship (Cobra for example) and upgrade it until you have c.33k Cr. left in the bank - then buy a Sidewinder while stowing the Cobra and "start" with 1,000 Cr?
