Hello Survivors!
It's time to bust out the sunscreen and find a shady spot, because things are about to get sweltering for your survivors in Stranded: Alien Dawn. The Dunes and Moons update introduces the Desertum region, complete with intriguing native wildlife, scarce plant life, and what are those moons in the sky?! This update also brings an additional survivor to the group, the desert born Sora Satoh.
We know you're all wondering what else is coming to Stranded: Alien Dawn! As development on the game continues, the Dunes and Moons Update brings exciting new features to the game. We are continuing to take on board your feedback and suggestions, and there a more updates to come in the future. Please continue sharing your feedback as we progress through the Early Access period.
Now let's check out what you can expect from the Dunes and Moons Update:
Desertum region
Desertum is a brand new region coming to Stranded: Alien Dawn. As you can probably tell from the name, it is a desert themed region that's quite different to the lush, temperate, and vibrant green Sobrius you're used to. In Desertum, temperatures are more extreme, fluctuating between high during the day and below 0 during the night. The soil quality makes it harder in general for things to grow. Luckily, the plants and animals that make this scorching area their home have adapted to the harsh environment and high temperatures.
After your survivors have crashed on Desertum, you'll quickly notice that there are fewer plants and trees compared to Sobrius. Resources like Wood and Sticks are usually in short supply, but stone outcroppings are quite common so don't forget about mining stone. Of course, this is dependent on where the escape pod crash lands. You'll also find several unique plants and animals, in addition to some you may be familiar with. Last, but not least, temperature and weather will have a significant impact on the decisions you make.
There's more to learn about Desertum in a future dev journal, so stay tuned to our forums and social channels tomorrow!
An Additional Survivor
Are you ready to meet Sora Satoh? Her difficult past has hardened her to the heatwaves and cold snaps of Desertum, while enhanced combat skills may prove vital during attacks from deadly alien wildlife, which pose additional threats to survival. Learn more soon™!
New Ways to Play
You may have noticed that you can select a moon when you start a new game. So far there's only been one moon available to choose, but with the Dunes and Moons update, three new moons will be gracing the skies of Stranded: Alien Dawn: Jason, Nyx, and Chaos, each with a distinct impact on gameplay. If you're looking for an added challenge, you might want to try changing up the moons, and the difficulty level, when starting up a new game.
Keep an eye out on our social channels in the coming week to learn more about Jason, Nyx, and Chaos.
Quality of Life Improvements
Last, but certainly not least, we're introducing new quality of life additions to Stranded: Alien Dawn with this update. Firstly, for players who have been dominating the current difficulty levels, two higher levels of difficulty will be made available with this update. You can test your mettle against both Very Hard and Insane difficulty levels.
In addition to introducing new difficulty levels, we've also adjusted key factors that define each difficulty levels based on your feedback. The lower levels will be less challenging overall, and the overall range of difficulty will be much broader. You'll still face quite the challenge on higher levels though! If you'd prefer a more peaceful approach to playing Stranded: Alien Dawn, the new "Peace First" rule will turn off aggressive animal attacks against your base and let you build in peace.
We've also added more granularity to the Activity menu, so you'll have more control for managing crafting and researching priorities.
There will be more quality of life changes, as well as bug fixes, in the full patch notes coming out on 1 December
As always, we want to thank everyone in the Stranded: Alien Dawn community for all your support, feedback, suggestions, and bug reports. Several of the quality of life additions in this update was inspired by your feedback.
There are more details to come from the Dunes and Moons Update, so don't forget to join the Stranded: Alien Dawn Discord and you'll never miss any news! You can also follow the game on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, or join the discussions on Steam and the Frontier Forums. On 30 November at 3:30pm GMT, the community team will be joined by developers from Haemimont Games for a run-through of Desertum and the new update on Twitch and YouTube. We'll see you there!
