Stranded Cmdr at Explorer's Anchorage (next to Sag A)

FINALLY made the trip to Colonia and Sag A this week in a new shiny Mandalay.
Was docked at Explorer's Anchorage next door to Sag A and was about to head back to the bubble when a Cmdr messaged me and explained they were stuck at Explorer's Anchorage after being ejected from another Cmdrs FC (not really 100% sure of the ins and outs of how and why this happened)
This meant they were stuck in the middle of nowhere, with no ship, on a station that has no shipyard...proper up the creek without a paddle!
Normally there are a few options available to Cmdrs in this situation...however:
  • Can't transfer a ship to Explorer's Anchorage because it has no shipyard.
  • Can't suicidewinder back to the bubble as you can't buy a ship.
  • Can't use Apex Interstellar as there are no destinations to fly to (Apex won't fly to a FC).
We created a team and they physically boarded my ship from the hanger (not telepresence) and we located an FC in a nearby system that had a shipyard. Flew there, dropped them off, they then deployed an ARX purchased Mandalay. Everything worked out great.

The main issue with this was that they hadn't seen any Cmdrs in a good while at Explorer's Anchorage. If I hadn't been there to help out is there anything else they could have done to get themselves unstuck? Obviously you could contact FDev support, but it would be better to solve this with in game mechanics.
It would be nice if Apex Interstellar would allow you to pick an FC as a destination.

Assume MultiCrew.
There was similar stuff at HIP 22460.

I suppose they could have asked for a lift via a discord or similar.
Fuel Rats may have been able to do something, maybe?

Something similar happened to me a few weeks after the deployment of Odyssey. I was at Explo Anchorage, when I met a stranded CMDR, whose ship was stuck on a planet a few 100ly away, because of a crash of the game.
Without a shipyard, it wasn't possible to recall the ship, so we tried multi-crew on my AspX, but it didn't work, because every time I jumped, my guest would just get disconnected and respawn at the station.
After many attempts, it had to be solved by Customer Support 🤷‍♂️

I've never done multicrew before, so our 1st attempt was using the menu option "Invite to crew". With this I could see them in my ship, when when they left they could not use the lift from the concourse down to my hanger, even if I opened the door and invisible wall stopped them entering.
We then tried "Invite to Team"....BINGO! Lifts now worked, they walked to my hanger and boarded my ship.
Invite To Crew uses telepresence so the cmdr isn't actually in your ship
Invite to Team means the Cmdr physically boards your ship.
No disconnects during hyperspace.

What would have happened if they had used the Stuck Recovery option on the menu?

Hmmmmm...i'm not sure on that one. If it works would your ship come to you, or you to the ship?

It should put you in a "safe" station... Now since they are in the station, not sure if Stuck recovery would move them to the previous station they docked.
Worth a try next time gets into this situation.

This was an idea I had a few years ago, to physically get my commander to somewhere near to Beagle Point without a ship (get a lift from someone else) and try to make my way back. Obviously it requires being able to get to a settlement or station that has a shipyard.

When the Live/Legacy split happened one of my Alts was aboard my Main's Carrier on foot. This meant the resultant Legacy Cmdr couldn't load in and needed Customer Support to get them into the ship in the Hangar.

With the star density in this location of the galaxy, something should have been within walking distance!

What happens if someone stuck on foot logs into the non-Odyssey, non-Legacy, version of the game?

Anyone want to maroon my CMDR somewhere so I can test this?
