Stranded!

Well, after trying to take a short cut across the Formadine Rift in my 24ly Cobra, I'm now out of Jumponium and stranded! I thought I'd take one last leap with a final FSD boost and arrived in a system with just one landable moon. I'm hoping there's some Niobium here otherwise I'm here forever! Luckily there's a crashed vessel here with two occupied escape pods and some personal weapons. If I can't find any Niobium and I am indeed stuck here in this system, I'll steal the weapons, release the occupants and then play a game of cat and mouse through the steep valleys and canyons that are here ha ha!

Here's where I managed to get to and it may well be the last place I see before I hit the self destruct button! Ah well, if I'm back sooner than I intended I might sell all my assets and return in an Anaconda kitted out for battle, I like to mix it up a bit!

I think the only appropriate response is "Oh, " and "Good Luck"

And apparently I can't quote James May....

No, much too far out, the closest system to me is 36ly now, I'd been struggling for a while and thought I'd just take a leap into the unknown. I'm still searching the one moon that's here though and not found any rare or very rare items yet so there's still hope!

jumponion rats appreciation group much needed here.. good luck on your search!

It's not normal fuel he needs, it's super fuel. I was wondering if trying to high-wake it some of the way and jumping the rest would work... so hit 2000c towards the nearest star and when in range jump the rest.

Sadly it doesn't not work that way. It was already tested some time ago. In-system travel does not affect (or substitute) warping :(

It still plots the distance from the stars as your jump range. Seriously give the Fuel Rats a call, it's not our first time having to mine jumponium for someone to get out of a tough spot.

Is it possible to swap materials with another player? I couldn't see a way for it to be possible because if it's discarded it just disappears doesn't it?

Not to worry though, but thanks for your advice and thoughts! I'm about to hit the self destruct button and take the short way home. While I might not get the tags or credits, I still have the screenshots and the experience for next time. It's not the first time I've returned to the bubble without my ship and I'm sure it won't be the last!

Fly safe, commanders. o7

You certainly can trade materials with other players, and they'll stay in space for several minutes. They'd have to be picked up manually with your cargo scoop. Have you ever done any mining, basically the same thing without the collector limpets.

I don't see how the fuel rats can help here though. If that one moon in the system doesn't have jump mats on it, and we still can't trade jump mats between players, then I fear that Stocko is simply out of luck on this one.

The only option I see to save his ship is to, well, he could just wait there and not play the game UNTIL the day comes where FDev patches in mat trading. At that time Stocko would be able to jump out of the system. But, that could be years from now....

That is with cargo, not materials. Mats are handled very different than cargo, and when you dump mats they simply disappear, they do not sit on the ground or float in space and can not be picked up by anyone else unfortunately.

You can't trade materials...you're confusing it with cargo. :) Mats can be discarted or used in synthesys...that's all.

Nah, I'm not getting it confused, just don't have Horizons being on Xbox and assumed they were the same. Why they're not makes no sense to me. I know the times in the past when we've done it have been different cases, where the SRV was destroyed so we had to mine it and they collected it in their ship. But this is different.
