Strange encounter.

Can they be summoned by dropping Meta Alloys?

Just found a regular NHSS. But as soon as i dropped 7 Alloy's, another Thargoid jumped in.. At first it looked hostile towards the other Thargoid.

What do you guys think?

"Unlike any other" No pretty sure i have a video of this my self and many other people. Other than that Have you never heard of free cam? And other than that i dont think he looked hostile

Nice! I have seen them appear when Meta-alloy is dropped, but always nice to see another example - and I really must remember to use my camera when disabled - missed a complete encounter earlier when I got disabled pointing the wrong way.

Makes me wonder if I could summon a thargoid by dropping meta-alloys when I get one of the 'empty' encounters...

Well it seems that the initial one turned red for a moment when the other jumped in.
Your vid answered one of my personal questions though, they don't jump out in the same direction, I wondered if they did or not.

On another note, are you sure they're friendly or did you just help them to kill us by handing out seven meta alloys?
I'm becoming more and more cautious about the assumption that they might not be hostile.
All I've seen so far is either neutral or aggressive behavior nothing friendly or mutual cooperative.

I am sure the one calls the other

Both are Thargoid interceptor come up as Cyclops Variant, different insignia icon but we don't know what they are yet.

The red is on the rear of the Thargoid, and it's usually red there I thought?

I don't see it turning hostile (glowing red), I just see it's thrusters glowing.

But interesting to see they glow blue just before they EMP you! (I've not been hyperdicted since 2.3 so far).

Very few people seem to be asking the question "Why does this happen".

This has been reported probably hundreds of times by now, I've done it myself, but I've yet to see many people actually discuss WHY it happens.

Why does a second ship appear
? Why does it seem to generate that EMP blast when it arrives since it doesn't seem to be doing it to be hostile?, It seems to ignore you totally and as you say seems more interested in the other ship, but not specifically being aggressive? What is it about dropping several Meta-Alloys that causes this when dropping one or two does not? What behaviour are we observing here and what can we speculate about it?

I find this to be one of the most intriguing things that we've seen, and I have no real idea what we're seeing happen.

It's an extremely strange behaviour and really doesn't seem to have any actual purpose, it's, for want of a better word, alien.

You're right, I warched the video again and as far as I can see there is no hostility between the two.

My opinion remains about them not likely to be "friendly" towards us though.
At first I thought, hoped, there would be a possibility for non aggressive coexistence but more and more I'm beginning to think that the bomb hasn't been dropped yet.
Imho their passive behavior should not be mistaken for friendliness.

Aye, on Frontiers road map they probably are to be hostile for now.

though i still hope we are able to visit their "bubble" in the future.

If we look at Mass Effect, and the first contact war with the Turians. We might indeed firs find us in an all round war. And over time, we might start to consider this might be all a huge misunderstanding. It would be great for the story for sure.
