Strange radar icon

I was playing Open at this weeks CG when I noticed something odd on the radar. It was red (so an enemy) but it wasn't a ship and at the same time noticed there was a human player in the area (not highlighted in red). As I was engaged in combat with a tricky NCP at the time, I didn't pay too much attention. However, that soon changed as my shields suddenly went down and I lost 50% hull in one go. Again, the radar just before this happened showed a red circular object with an animated set of white balls and the human cmdr was not showing us an enemy.

A couple of questions:
1. How can I see what hit me - is this something the logs can detail - where do I find these (playing on PC)
2. Is there a definitive list of radar icons - perhaps the radar was showing a weapons warhead of some kind (a bit like showing hatch breakers)

I can't seem to find a way to post an image to this link, so when I get home I'll have a go. I made a mock up of the radar icon.

1. logs are saved default at C:\Users\username\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous
2. Hmm the radar not sure

I did try the Thargoids once before. I built an Annaconda, full G5/G4, hull tanked, shield tanked, AX suited and booted. Feeling invincible.

Got my butt kicked :eek:

Parked it up, never been back. Obviously didn't pay attention to the radar!

That pic' reminded me...

I was investigating the INRA sites in my iCourier when I noticed a vague "blob" on my scanner, which looked a bit like an asteroid does when you're in a RES.

I tried to head toward it but it kept moving away from me and I couldn't catch it.
Then I noticed there was another one behind me (on the scanner), following me, so I looped around to see if I could intercept it.

Then I realised I was looking at the 4 screws in the top of the console underneath the scanner. :eek:

Certainly sounds like you ran into a thargoid interceptor. If not prepared for one, you probably want to be found elsewhere. I think you discovered that much, though.

If you want to join the secret war, follow the postings of the varmint with the kitchen utensils strapped to it. The vanguard and acropolis are heading to new destinations tomorrow and are usually fairly close to systems that these are laying siege to.
