Strange sights you see outside the bubble

Exploration can be a distraction from all the mundane day to day aspects of Elite (little boys with big guns targeting ships with no cargo or bounty just to show they can etc) but sometimes the logic seems to stretch a little bit too far, like being 26,000 ly from the bubble and 11,000 ly from the nearest star-port and finding a lone single seat F63 Condor fighter crash-landed on a planet with two occupied escape pods and three tonnes of narcotics lying nearby (Interesting for a ship with only enough room for one person and no cargo capacity with no hyperspace engine). Now I'll do my duty and take the escape pods to the first port I reach but the paperwork will prove hard to finish as there seems no possible reason to find that ship with those items on a distant world.

The random encounter table for planetary exploration is exactly fine-tuned in regards to location of the planet. Hopefully when they go back to the visual design of the planet surfaces, they also put in some work on encounters.

Can't be that rare for ships to visit that system - OP was there ..... has he checked for missing fighters
Uh oh, better check your personal drug stash, OP... I think you almost got had there!

That is pretty weird, I have to agree. My most recent memorable sight was The Mighty, the landable planet with the highest known gravity. It's a strange purple-blue color. I was just staring and staring, sooooo tempted to try to land on it, but with 100 million in passengers on board, I just couldn't justify the risk... :/

Back in the days of Distant Worlds 1 one of the most common things you found on planets even in the far side of the galaxy was canisters of Tea. It's a british game after all ;). It went that far, that someone (was it Anuranium?) proposed an intergalactic system of fines for littering, IIRC. :p

Yeah, normally I can ignore video game-y things in a game, but I found myself kinda annoyed that I kept finding wrecks on this planet out in the middle of nowhere ~16k ly out, and stuff like a destroyed SRV with 4 tons of cargo next to it (were they carrying 2 tons on their lap?).

Or a crashed nav beacon when you're far outside the bubble, how the heck is that meant to get there? They control NPCs spawning and have them only spawn in areas around civilization, and I wish they'd do the same for junk ya find on planets. I'd rather encounter nothing than something that makes no sense.

If I do find an occupied escape pod out in the middle of nowhere, it should be a miracle that makes the front pages of Galnet, not just be a thing I can haul back and sell for a few thousand credits.

I can easily explain this one.
I found something like this recently. It also had one Escape Pod. Since I already had canister of something I scooped up earlier, I dropped it and piceked up the Pod. So, after I left, there were more cargo cannisters then when I arrived :)

Another explenation: There was a stash of many more cannisters. This SRV was loading them into a ship, when another shipp arrived - probably one that was parked nearby, as they tend to do - and destroyed the SRV before it finished the job.

Yeah, life is cheap on the frontier.

F63 Condor in the bay, a few tonnes of Narcotics and Rare Whisky, standard on all my deep space explorers. The rumours about dumping hookers in deep space are baseless.

In others threads people complain exploration jump-honk-scoop is so dumb that you need onionhead to even achieve the 5000 LY for Palin.

Here people complain about finding a downed SLF with narcotics.

Go figure 😂
