Strange thing happend to me - beware of explorers

On Friday I was just going through Lembava ( or a system nearby ) when I saw a open message by a 'returning Explorer fleet' (or something to that name) - when they dropped from Frameshift I decided to follow their wake. As usual I overshot - but this time I got dropped out of FS and was sittimg around with a fully functional ship where however most of the equipment ( including thrusters ) was red and switched off ( and not onswitchable ).
It told me that there is not enough Energy - but my Reactor was working at 100% and even when I started to switch off everything I could I could not make my thrusters come back on.
In the end I self destroyed.

No I am not complaining mostly bc:
- the Game is still in developement
- 4 million rebuy are not really hurting me

I only wanted to leave this here as a warning and hoping that maybe maybe sb can explain to me what happened. I am generally curious.

Did you consider logging out to main menu and back in again to see if the situation cleared before hitting the big red button?

I bought a new Viper and A-rated it this weekend for the CG. Every time I deployed weapons my power would die and I'd end up on emergency O2. I'd have to turn off my FSD to get things back online.

Look on your modules menu. At the very bottom are two lines for power. If the bottom line is red and over 100% you need to set your power management accordingly. If that line is yellow and under 100% then you have some sort of bug. A log out, PC reboot and restart of your game may be in order. If you see the same behaviour, open a ticket with as much info as possible.

Video or a screenshot would tell us a lot more.

Yes - I tried that.

Have you filed a ticket? Quite possibly some sort of bug, which FD can look into.

Problem is my recollection is a bit to sketchy to really help them. Also I'm not mad about it anywhichsoeverwayatall.

Yeah thanks I know that. And I did even went as far as switching off everything not needed.

Thanks for the answers everyone - but I really didn't ask for a way to deal with it - so please don't be upset if I don't bite.
More as a warning.
Should it happen again I'll try to gather more Data.

By way of diagnosis, try screenshotting your Modules panel to get a record of the percentage power use for each of your modules. Then, if it happens again, check and compare the percentages. It might just be one specific module playing up.

Did you try the reboot option in the menu? Because it almost sounds like you had a damaged power plant or something.. Did you check the health of the modules as well as their on/off status?

I had something similar, but much less severe, when my distributor was shot out and could not divert enough power to SYS.
