Engineers Strange Wake Solutions...Easy

So I have literally never seen one before I needed one, but I read that they are hard to come by.

I figured the best thing to do would be to sit outside a busy station and scan wakes for days on end. After a few, I thought, I bet I get more in Open play. So I w=switched, got lucky in 89 Leonis, as there are a lot of RES, and got 3 in 20 mins. So if you are looking for them, suit up and hit a busy station in Open. I think they are more common among CMDRs as they definitely have modded FSDs. Just a thought.

I'll probably go hit up some Community Goal stations next!

Yeah I was about to suggest a CG. Right now look for the one with the most people participating and have a go.

Outside Jameson Memorial in a Courier stripped for speed with Enhanced Performance drives it took me about 2 hours to get 18 Strange Wake Solutions.
This was in solo. After a few minutes the AI spawn rate is up far enough that you're actually rushing around to collect scans.

FYI - given how bad my RNG is with finding MM, maybe this is just RNG swinging other way in my favor, but - I find the one very consistent missions reward (for me) is boom state + allied status = data courier missions with strange wake solutions and other 'good' mats as reward

'good mats' as in not junk like 1 iron or 1 nickel (which sometimes is still the reward), but decent number of times I find missions on allied boom state factions that offer the good/rare data scans.

it's not open. it's just changin instance.

same working for SRV prospecting. Log off, log on, metal meteorite spawn near you in ~30sec. if not - rinse and repeat.

Wake telemetry data is the easiest thing to farm in the game, even easier than grinding very common/common planetary mats. I just parked outside the station I happened to be in with my Asp and got all the wake data I needed in under and hour. After 7-8 rolls of Grade 3-4 FSD upgrades I needed to go back for another 15 minutes to get another common data drop to do a Grade 5 roll, but in total I've spent under a hour and a half getting wake data.

Obvious thing, then - wing up with a CMDR with a modded FSD, meet them somewhere and get them to repeatedly wake and drop until you get what you want. Similarly for the shield scan data - find a friendly CMDR and scan them.

SCAN PARTIES!!!!

To go a famine system and look for a distribution center (FYI not all famine systems have them), sit there and farm wake solutions as ships constantly jump in and out. I find this better than hanging about outside a station.

I used nav beacon areas myself in busy systems and anecdotally speaking I felt I was getting more hits on SWS than elsewhere. That's just a feeling mind. Not based on any stats.
