Strangely poor texture on Anaconda?

To me it seems that a lot of effects and eye candy was removed (or optimized as they call it) in order to make it run smooth on xbox.
I've noticed a lot of details are missing now and the game does not look like back in alpha days. It's kind of a shame because I surely wouldn't have 'backed' this game if I'd known it would get dumbed down for consoles.

This. Though I am not a "backer" I am not happy to watch Elite make the turn towards consoles. I didn't spend 3.5k on my PC only to watch our graphics get chopped up for console compatibility. Sad indeed.

I get that "effect" when I want to leave a station.
The letterbox - when coming close to it - looks like having low-res textures, right untill I'm about to enter the box.
Then suddenly, the usual high-res textures pop into place.

Never had that, as far back as the open Beta.
I think it's related to the (few) micro-stutters I have, when entering a station...which I also never had before.

And I sometimes have low-res textures on class2 fixed beams, in the outfitting.

Are you graphics settings set to high? That looks awful...

Everything is basically maxed out...

I'll look again then when at other locations and see if I get better textures elsewhere...

Actually you can see the poor texture in this video too (reporting a bug where the outside star map reflects on the glass inside a station) - View it FULL screen to see just how bad it (the textures) is!!!

ps: Notice the chair behind the glass?

Why would the "eye-candy" on PC effect the XBOX version in any way whatsoever? It might've been an idea to remove it _for_ the XBOX version only, sure, but why would they change it on PC?

Consolitis?

Because it has to look the same on PC so game devs downgrade pc games so console players "do not miss out" - It is called consolitis :]

LOD improvements most likely gone wrong.

Nonsense. Mostly it is when devs can't get game working consistently with all major card setups and fall back on config working safely, but giving just good enough performance. Basically consolitis is a urban myth because gamers lack actual knowledge in programming.

ED LOD are still pretty much WIP. There are visible jumps between LOD levels all over the place.

LOL seriously "work in progress"?

I am not sure what would be worse: Still not having the LOD ready months after(!!!) release or reducing graphic quality months after(!!!) release because of consolitis? Or is the worst bit the one where they actually didn't tell us about downgrades in any of their update notes? OR that they didn't admit that this game is far away from a release version by any of todays standards and/or player-expectations?
