I dare say many have.

Used the blow them up a lot strategy with the usual engineering.

The hunters depend on the rank of the mission, after dangerous it's usually condas, before that pythons. So just pick a ship that can take those guys when you choose the mission. Don't stack too many so you're not fighting 5 at once.
