Struggling wth collecting Tissue samples for Ram Tah's mission

Hiya,

I've basically avoided getting into it with the Thargoids up until this point, but I thought I'd try Ram Tah's recent Guardian mission and in order to do that I apparently need 3 different tissue samples from the various Thargoid Interceptors. After some research and experimentation it seemed I might be able to pull this off 'passively' by allowing the Thargoid to scan my Cobra, turning off my Thrusters to drop below 20% temperature and then firing off a research limpet as the Thargoid moved away. Apart from the limpet cargo hatch bug, this all worked very well, until I tried for a second tissue sample.

At this point, the Thargoid detects my existing tissue sample and lets rip. I've tried Jettisoning my tissue sample for later recovery, but the pigging Thargoid went and collected it :) and anyway, I think it starts degrading after you drop it?

So, is there a stealthy way of doing this, or do I need to actually get into it with the Thargoid?

Thanks, sorted now. I couldn't easily get hold of heatsinks for my Cobra, so I managed to drop my temperature in silent running, and turning off systems. This necessarily included Thrusters so, remaining in range of the Thargoid/Research limpet takes some tactical parking but is very do-able. Thanks again.

Now, if only we had a way to store those items. Currently you either get rid of them when you no longer need them and probably have to collect them again at a later date, or you'll be carrying illicit cargo for the rest of your days. And hopefully all your stored ships have enough cargo space so you can swap.

Heh - always remember the time I came back triumphant with the samples, only to find I'd swapped the cargo bay out of my long range ship - that was annoying. But I was then killed by a pirate, which solved that problem :)

Getting the samples is less painful each time, it's just 30 minutes of relogging, which many would do just to fill up with passengers - and I don't need to do it as often.
