Struggling.

Hey.

Been playing over a month and really struggling to enjoy the game. I've followed a few YouTube videos and got myself into a vulture and trying to make credits.

Currently in high res site bounty hunting but it's slow and ponderous to be honest.

Suck at missions as if it a lone ship I'm fine but when they're in a wing I'm history lol. Plus the pay is not good

Might try trading next but don't know where to start.

Suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.

Hello dear fellow.

Like you I am presently flying a vulture and have no problems pulling in between 1-2 million clearing out HAZ RES. HAve you looked at your birds set up, what?

If you have your heart set on trading, may I suggest a Asp E, what!

First suggestion is don't attack wings by yourself. The Vulture is deadly when outfitted correctly however stacking the odds against yourself is never a good idea.

If you want to try trading check sites such as http://www.roguey.co.uk and http://eddb.io for good trade routes but you'll need at least a Type 6 to make it worthwhile.

Other than that, look on bulletin boards for smuggling and haulage missions.

Maybe try looking into the Rares circuit.

I don't have the details to hand but I'm sure someone can help with that.

It's a good way to get into trading/smuggling and can earn great early money.

You want a HazRez for hunting generally. It sounds daunting, but all it means is you get more enemies and no cops trying to help. This is a really good thing because you get a consistent supply of enemies, and if you choose not to engage some Elite Python or a strong wing, you always have other targets ready to go for.

If combat isn't your thing you can try smuggling, but until you have experience you may want to try it in a cobra instead of asp. When the cobra boosts almost anything trying to scan it gets left in the dust.

Or if you can make it there with a ship that has a couple of dumbfire rocket launchers, systems like HIP 10716 aren't bad. They're flaunted for their rep gaining abilities, but I gain relatively reasonable money doing it. Just be aware that you WILL feel like you're cheating. Info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...er_and_faster_way_to_empire_ranks_than_cubeo/

Your other option is rares trading, if you don't want to feel you're cheating the game in some way. Grab an AspE or other ship with respectable jump range and cargo space, and follow this: http://imgur.com/SVpPHrv

Yeah, I would agree with this. I have been playing a short time but I'm not having trouble making money to be honest.
The Vulture is my favourite ship of all the ones I have tried. I love it and it can be a big earner. I don't have much trouble with wings of three NPC's either so maybe it's a technique issue.

If you have problems with too many npcs ganging up on you, try fitting an interdictor and hunt wanted ships in supercruise. You can pick non winged ships and deal with them one at a time. Don't forget to pack a kill warrant scanner for the extra bounty.

I tried trading right at the beginning and could not get the hang of it, so gave it up as a bad lot. Recently I gave it another try and with the help of eddb ( https://eddb.io/ ) it clicked. Turned out to be far more enjoyable than I thought it would be :)

get your self a cobra or if feeling cheap a adder as your multirole ship to do smuggling, basic trade or rare trading and do a few bb mission as a break from just doing pew pew. or get a hauler set her up for exploring and go out side the bubble for a bit and go site seeing

Only thing I'd say...is absolutely do not play this game to rake in all the money you can to buy a big ship. You'll discover smuggling, get that money in a week, and go "okay...well that was good. Now what do I do".

Do whatever activity actually feels like fun, and do it your way. The profit you can work out from there.

And always try to contribute in the community goals.

Keep your eye out for bounty hunting ones especially if keeping your vulture too.
Community goals are basically free bonus credits. And if you play open, you will see more cmdrs

Other than that, I would recommend an Asp explorer, and you can do pretty much anything in it - combat (within limits), exploring, trading, rare trading, smuggling, mining, cargo missions etc
Fit out costs won't be much more than a good rated vulture too.

That. There's basically not an NPC ship in the game that I'm nervous about facing 1-on-1 in my tooled-up Vulture, but wings are surprisingly dangerous even if it's just a bunch of Eagles or Sidewinders.

For bigger ships (especially Pythons or Anacondas) make sure you target their power plants (either via the subtargets menu on X+D-pad left or by cycling through options on A+D-pad up). As long as you're attacking from above or below, which you really should be because a big ship getting her nose on you is Bad News, the power plants will die a long time before their hull goes down, leaving them dead in space for you to finish off at your leisure.

Also: fit a Kill Warrant Scanner. Not only will this increase your earnings pretty hugely, it will encourage you to take your time setting up your initial engagement. Drift in behind your target while you're getting them scanned, and only then let rip with those big ol' VulturePulses.

Good luck and good hunting!

Make sure your not carrying any cargo and don't have a bounty or are wanted in the system. Then pretty much you will be ignored by all. You are probably better off in a high intensity or high res site. That way you can sit back let the local men in green wear out the bad guys till about 30% hull then step in and finish them off and bank all the profits for little risk.

What ho old bean

I only just recently taught some manners to a wing of pythons! marvellous fun but I must admit that I had to make a dash for the station after.

Chaff is a wonderful invention, what!

That's why I LOVE the Vulture, I used to shy away from bigger ships in a wing but now I find it to be fun to change my tactics up to avoid taking a lot of damage.

Shields go down? The only thing I start to worry about when that happens is losing my canopy. my HRPs are more than enough to keep in the fight until shield come back up.

I find using chaff against an NPC is almost impossible, their aim is way too good. Instead, I just use some Shield Boosters. Saving power one step at a time :)

Hey,

I was exactly the same when I first started playing ED. I found the learning curve really hard and struggled with everything. In the beginning I was playing with friends and pretty much just followed them around which I dont think helped. I came back to it about a month ago and have really taught myself the do's and do nots and found the best ways to enjoy it for me. Trading without a doubt is the best way to get money fast.

Stick with it, and eventually you'll love it I'm sure.

I had first played back during the early access period. Played until I had enough saved up for an Adder, kitted it out fairly nicely and mostly did small smuggling runs. Deathly afraid of being ganked by other players, so I mostly stuck with Solo play.

Since I hadn't played since the full release, I got back in recently and cleared my save. Quickly built up enough cash to get a Cobra and love it so far. Gave it a few minor upgrades and ran a load of fuel in the Rats' CG, taking me farther away from the starting systems than I've ever been.

The best advice I've seen so far is that you have to set the goals for yourself. Don't get caught up in trying to get the "best" ship or best setup. Do what you want to do that you think is fun. Sure, sometimes you'll have to grind to be able to afford that higher class upgrade you want, but have fun with that, too.

All solid advice. Here's another rare trade diagram of a good route I used to do many, many moons ago :p maybe you'll find it useful.
