strugling with x52

Hi,

I have an early Xmas present an X brilliant only problem is I am rubbish with it

After a week with a mouse I started terrible but after lots of sensitivity adjustments I could complete the training missions

But with x52 I feel like I have gone back to square one, I am over rolling and yaw is horrible.

Major issue it feels to sensitive but I can't seem to make it less so

Also how do you reverse

Many thanks

Alright, The reverse if using the default setting is the little button between the E and I buttons, kind of in the crook between them. that will toggle reverse.

as for sensitivity suggest either using one of the alternate springs, OR adjusting its dead zone slightly to suit your tastes.

I'm really not trying to be trite or insensitive here, but you just need to stop moving the stick as much. You can adjust dead zones but that's not going to help you and I don't think there's any sensitivity or logarithmic adjustments available for it either in the settings or in game - there's not on mine that I can see anyway. I've spent a few years flying remote control airplanes (much more expensive when you crash them!) and what you describe is a very common problem with new pilots - they get excited and make big movements with the stick and spend all their time trying to compensate and correct for them. The only real advice I can offer you is to get back into the tutorials and practice practice practice your fine control, focus on making small, smooth movements rather than big jerky ones.

Bought my X52 a few years ago and it's finally getting a good workout with this game. Like sandman said above, small movements on the stick are better than hard yanks. Just give it a tiny bit of time to get the feel of it and you too will be zipping into the dock at full afterburn while squeezing past a lakon.

I bought X52 originally for DCS Combat flight sims and it does take time getting used to pretty sensitive to your reactions

Thanks all, thought as much. Also I don't have pro so just have the standard spring?

Do you like the yaw setup, I keep finding myself yawning while rolling which ruins my alignment

Still love it immersion +10

There should be a little clip you can pull out on the bottom left of the stick that will lock the Yaw if it gets on your nerves, pretty easy to just pop it in and out if you need to.

Yah the non-Prio has the standard softer spring. Saitek doesn't sell spares but there's a guy on ebay selling stiffer springs to suit the X52, that might help you.

I like the yaw personally, it can help to put the joystick on a slight angle so what FEELS like pushing forward isn't actually pushing sideways too. You can always lock it out (pull out the small silver tab near the bottom of the stick part) if you don't like it, or assign it so something else (keyboard? Buy some pedals? another cheap joystick?)

Sounds like you've got Yaw into Roll selected in the Flight Rotation options in ED. I have the x52 also, with the programming software it's brilliant.
