Stuck around Cosi... how to travel elsewhere?

I have explored all of the systems that I can get to from Cosi several jumps out. I do not see how to get out of this little area in my Sidewinder.

I have had to ditch several transport missions (cheap ones) because I accepted them without realizing I had no way to get to the delivery site.

What gives? How do I get out of this area?

Get rid of your weapons. It will bring up your jump distance enough to get you out of that area. I started there too and am slowly working my way to SOL. Just try not to get interdicted. ( I kept my cargo racks to do trade missions along the way, you could drop those instead of the lasers, or hope you find an upgraded FSD you can afford)
