Stuck as a Chief Petty Officer, please help?!

I got a permit for Beta Hydri and one for PLX 695, I achieved the rank of CHeif Petty Officer at Beta Hydri then they told me to head to PLX 695 once I got it's permit. But now I've been around here a whole ton, I'm friendly with the whole Federation and did a ton of random missions on the site but still I don't get any rank progression missions at all. All I see are more missions to get a permit for PLX 695 ( which I already HAVE )

Can anyone help me? I really want to keep ranking up so I can get the Dropship, but I don't know what I should do.

I've yet to get the next mission either, but I have a feeling that it can only be obtained in PLX 695

I'm currently ranked Lieutenant. I've completely ignored the 'missions' when given the system pass. My missions for Ensign and Lieutenant were in my usual stomping ground around Sol - not the permit systems.

stuck at chief petty officer as well. Usually next missions past permit came within a few hours. No new ones now for a few days and a lot of ingame playtime. Maybe my current system is to much off the grid?

The game was throwing rank progression missions at me at one point, now I haven't seen one for days.

I'm now kicking myself for logging off with the next rank progression mission sat on my screen and thinking I'll do it in the morning.

I'm in the same position myself. Same path as OP hunted around USS constantly checking BB but no further progression opportunities.

Eventually returned to my home system. Slightly annoying as it is 170ly home.

No further opportunities so far upon return as of yet.

Yeah me too, think the all rank system is bugged, i'm competent and chief petty officer for a few days now. :mad:

Looks like the next mission is just rare.

I did get the chance on the next one up... had to obtain 2x Combat Stabilizers (probably random commodity) within 1h12m.

Too bad I was in an area where it was prohibited in almost all neighbouring systems

Believe it has to do with the faction level of the Federation / Alliance /Empire aligned factions at the station you are getting missions. If your not allied your probably not going to see progression missions.
Personally didn't see the mission to get permit. Now I get progression missions at my current site, no permit option.

Been at Post Commander for a while now, after Beta Hydri I got permits for Exbeur and Hors last one was kill 9 pirates in a single system made it with under 10 minutes left! Possibly you may have to hang around the permitted system for the next one as I headed back for my other ship after that and had no missions after that.

From my FAQ:

Competent: I got summons and permit and (insert your problems here)
AFAIK You don't have to go to the system at all to progress your ranks or get further permits, at least at least until 3 highest ranks. The permit are somewhat independent of the rank progression, but the last 3 ranks will probably need to be done in permit systems. I got Federation ranks and permits by never going to systems that I got "invited to" (up to Lieutenant). I may have to go there to get my last few ranks. Also, I'm an Earl (top ranking so far) with Empire and I never got offered Achenar permit.

Mostly Harmless: I got a mission do so and so and now I don't get any missions! I'm stuck!
There seem to be thresholds at which you get more missions. One is - you have to be allied with the faction to progress.

Look at the system map and see who rules the system. Get allied with that minor faction in another system and you'll get an permit.

Yup, its a bug I think, I am CPO too and have the permit to PLX 695 and all the missions that come up are Federal Invite which it says I cannot accept as I already have Permit for PLX 695, this smells like a bug to me.

I too am a CPO and have the PLX permit. I see an unobtainable invitation to PLX in most Federation stations on a regular basis. It does smell of bug, but I'm wondering if the bug (at least for me) was caused by me accepting the original invitation and obtaining the permit before I reported back to the station where I accepted the original advancement opportunity.

Did anyone who is experiencing this 'bug' do the same as I did?

I was stuck at CPO for a bit, but eventually made it past with a handful of rank progression missions.

However, I noticed that my rank went from something to Petty to Chief Petty, BACK to PETTY, Chief Petty, then on to Ensign or whatever. So there may be a bug that repeats these ranks, making it seem like you are stuck! I did not submit a ticket, so if many folks notice this, please do.

Do more BBS missions. It's not enough to gain system rep, you need to get faction rep. This only works through doing "Help and give for free" BBS missions.

CPO did any number of missions but no promotion beyond CPO.
Finally Yesterday went to SOL System / Mars High..did a simple courier mission and yup you guessed it promoted too Warrant Officer.
Had never been to Mars High before that, but kept reading in these forums about going to "NEW" places for missions to increase rank and rep etc.

Seems to have worked for me :)
