stuck, help

UPDATE:

Embarrassed to say I found the problem: Being an old fart (45) I got my first pair of glasses three weeks ago. Prior to that I used the Windows graphics settings to magnify my Desktop to 150%. yup, you guessed it. the bottom of the Oculus Home screen was cut off and couldn't be pulled up or fullscreened. It's a fluke that I found it but, that was the issue. Thanks for all the help peeps!

Just downloaded and tried installing the new Rift software. started doing the install and everything was ok until the Oculus screen popped up and said to continue setup on my computer. Its just sits there. do i need a controller or something?

I can't find any kind of desktop Oculus utility or anything and i eventually just close it. in the DK2 it says" SETUP MODE , Rift isn't ready for you just yet, continue setup on your computer. how do I do that?

The only thing that happens is a screen pops up that says oculus in the center with a swirly animation thing on the desktop screen and in the dk2 it's says "Rift is not ready yet continue setup on computer" there's no way to do anything, mouse does nothing on the desktop and does show on the DK2.

Hmm I'm guessing you've done the usual of removing the old runtimes etc?

I think the installer does remove them also, I haven't got a controller and had no problems, only thing I had to do was download a beta driver for the GFX card.

Might be worth going through the reg and seeing if anything has been left behind.

Ya all the usual uninstalls, runtime, SteamVR etc. latest nVidia driver and all that. weird.

Possibly a corrupt download?

There was probably a lot of people downloading yesterday.

Nothing in the support section over at Oculus

https://support.oculus.com/

Probably time to raise a ticket with them,.

Just found this which might help.

DK2

1) Uninstall your Oculus runtime and other software and restart NB: If upon restart your desktop is weird and no windows open, your Oculus needs to be turned off (in some cases it becomes the primary screen)
2) Download the software here: https://www.oculus.com/en-us/setup/
3) Run it and let it begin downloading the drivers
4) Download the latest Nvidia Drivers and install them in the meantime. Don't restart until the drivers have finished downloading on Oculus
5) Go through the wizard, setting up an account etc. When you get to the bits about setting up the CV1, just skip most of it, including the bit where you have to plug in your rift and get it to detect etc.
6) The Home will open and you'll get a warning about the DK2 not being supported. Put the DK2 on and you will see that is not the case.
7) In the DESKTOP version of Home (both are always open), go to settings > general > Allow unknown sources - switch this last on
8) Run Elite, switch to HMD (Speakers/Headphones) and you might need to restart after this
9) Start the game, if it bugs out don't worry, start it again and second time should be fine.

Also, see this thread for getting it working beautifully otherwise, and for future tweaks etc.

When i installed 1.3 I was starting fresh on a reformatted PC. I connected my DK2 and started the setup. soon after I started, oculus notified me that my NV drivers needed to be updated so I took care of that and restarted my PC. after launching the 1.3 again, it picked up where it left off and completed the installation I ignored and skipped the hardware setup and simply finished it. I do get random warnings about my sensor not working properly but performance and tracking have been flawless.

i found that my performance took a nose dive when i used SLi..you may find that you get better performance on a single card. just disable SLI.. no need to actually remove the card. I also set my card settings to max and bound physix to CPU. im running a single 670 with amazing results.
