Stuck in space??

Ok so I see article titled...
"An Elite Dangerous pilot has been stuck in space for three months"
How the heck? Ok... WHY the heck??!

Then it talks about rescue efforts and refuel... how do you refuel other ships in this game?

Last time I got stuck in the middle of nowhere I just self destructed, then came back to civilization...

There are various ways people have been stuck in space, not just fuel shortage, there was a famous account of CMDR CHIGGY VONRICTOFEN here;

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/308075-End-of-the-Road?p=4775960&viewfull=1#post4775960

Who traveled across the entire galaxy to rescue to rescue a CMDR who had used Jumponium once to often and now didn't have enough jump range to get to the next star, I think that also made the gaming websites, it's worth a read and I shan't post to much detail here in case you do decide to read it......having checked it goes on for 70+pages so it is quite a read.

Then of course there's the epic story of Cmdr Bomba Luigi (109 pages long), who got stranded on a barren moon 1000 LYs from Sol when his ship spontaneously crashed and exploded while he was in his SRV. He decided to stay on that planet, exploring the nooks and crannies and performing various role-play tasks he'd set for himself before being "rescued"; dozens of other Cmdrs flew out there to keep him company. Unfortunately, the game doesn't actually allow you to board someone else's ship while you're in your SRV, even if they theoretically have space for you, so the "rescue" had to be roleplayed too - in truth, he simply self-destructed.

And finally, I myself got "stuck in space" by traveling too far out to the galactic fringe, where stars are thin and you need FSD-boosting synthesis materials ("jumponium") to get very far; I'd miscalculated the amount of jumponium I'd need. With no jumponium to get home again and no means onboard to harvest any, I too got rescued by the aforementioned Cmdr Chiggy, who came and helped me scavenge enough jumponium to escape. You can read my far-less-than-epic story here (only 3 pages long).

you mean this story right?

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/451107-Expedition-VI-The-Longest-Journey

its also a long way with a 2A fuel scoop to travel 65kly just to get to semotus beacon ask me how i know, so self destructing can be a little hard to swallow at that point, anyway the thread is worth a read the games a sandbox some of us just makeup the content ourselves ;)
